3rd Annual Post 25 Commander's Cup

Posted by Glenn Fredricks on Apr 20 2007 at 05:00PM PDT
Today's game at Waterfront Park in Trenton will pit the Spotswood High School Chargers against the East Brunswick Bears. It will be the 3rd time they will battle for the Joyce Kilmer Post 25 Commander's Cup, and the second straight year at the home of the AA Trenton Thunder. Fans will be treated to a little Mets/Yanks flavor as the day starts at 1pm. The Trenton Thunder take on the Mets AA affiliate from Binghamton, NY. SHS and E.B. will try to gain the cup 30 minutes after that game ends. In 2005, East Brunswick (ranked #1 in the Home News Tribune) used a late home run from the #9 hitter Adam Zimmerman to derail the comeback by SHS and make a winner out of Post 25 ace Matt Metsch, 5-4. Last year, Joe Fischer relieved Eric Miele to hold the Chargers at bay in the late innings and EB fended off a furious rally in the 8th to forge a 5-all tie and retain possession of the cup for another year. This year promises to be another great one, as the weather is predicted to be possibly the nicest day of the year. Tentative first pitch is slated for 4pm.
