SCHEDULE IS SET FOR 2011 CHARGERS

Spotswood, NJ -

The 2011 Spotswood High School Baseball 25 game schedule is complete.  The 2011 Central Jersey Group II Champions will once again face off with some of New Jersey's best teams, with some marquee games on tap both early and late in the season.  The league schedule welcomes in two new teams in South Amboy and New Brunswick, and says goodbye to Highland Park.  There are several monster non-conference games set up versus teams defending titles of their own which will once again make the Chargers battle tested heading into the playoffs where they hope to reach the CJ Group II Final for the fourth time in the last six seasons, and defend their own 2010 crown.

A new exciting feature to the 2011 GMC league schedule will be the start of series play.  Each team will face the same opponent on back to back days throughout league play in a home-and-home series.  Deep pitching staffs will have a leg up during these series and non league games are sure to truly test teams' arms top to bottom.

Spotswood will be tested early with matchups versus rival Edison, who reached the North 2 Group IV last season.  Next is White Division opponent Colonia and then a weekend tilt against defending Central Jersey Group I Champion Robbinsville.  RHS will be the first opponent who will be defending a championship in 2011.  The Non-Public A State Champion Immaculata Spartans will host SHS on April 23 at Diamond Nation in Flemington.  The Chargers will also have huge tests versus the Middlesex County and Somerset County Champs, South Brunswick (4/30) and Montgomery (5/7, 7pm) respectively.

Other state powers loom as SHS plays in its' first Red Devil Classic hosted by Hunterdon Central on April 16th.  SHS joins Hunterdon Central, Notre Dame and South Jersey Group II power Buena Regional for the weekend tournament.  Rounding out the schedule will be games vs. North Hunterdon, Point Pleasant Boro, and North Brunswick.

The Post 25 Commanders Cup will be played vs. East Brunswick on May 9th.  EB will come to SHS for the first time since Will Beard's no hitter in the GMC tournament in 2007 as the series shifts from Waterfront Park in Trenton.  The annual night game at Michelin Field in Milltown will be played during Spring Break on April 20th vs. New Brunswick.

With defending champion Middlesex and much improved South River also slated for league games, this will be a most challenging year for the Royal and Blue.

See you at the Swamp!!
