OUTRIGGER HEAVEN

Posted by Freda Rosso at Feb 16, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Patsy Kerr, Kathy Whitehurst and Linda Knowles met with Ronnie Boone on Friday Feb 17th to ask about storing the outriggers at his property at Harrisons Pier. He is excited that we will be putting the boats there. He has telephone polls sunk on the beach that he is going to put a 12'' eye screw in for us to lock the boats to. We have permission to park at the location. The restaraunt is open now and the pier will be open 24 hours a day from May 1 to November 1; he also plans on keeping the area well lit so no one should mess with the boats. He owns the land from the parking lot at the pier, the Thirsty Camel that is to the left of the pier and a vacant lot on the other side of that. Mr. Boone gave the gals a tour of the restaraunt and property. There are bathrooms we can use, there is a big deck on top of the restaraunt that has a bar and will have a band on Wednesdays and the weekend. The view from the deck is spectacular. There is a game room for kids so it would be a great place to bring your family where they could watch you paddle and enjoy themselves. Please recognize that this is his business and patronize his resturant when you can to show our appreciation.
Fantastic job Pasty, Kathy and Linda!

Halloween Hama Jama Race

Posted by Freda Rosso at Oct 30, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Thanks to all the racers that came out for the Hama Jama KIS race. Here are results for the day: 1. Kyle McLain, K-1: 51:22 2. Tony Vladu, surfski: 52:33 3. Rusty and Leeza, pro boat: 56:37 4. Ron Whitenack, surfski: 56:47 5. Charlie Barton, C-1: 58:41 6. Greg (Wonderboy) Peters, C-1: 58:51 7. Tim Jones, C-1: 1:00:55 8: Glenn (Phantom) Farnsworth (surfski): 1:04:11 Honorable mention: Adrian Joynes: toured the creek in the green Dagger sea kayak All times provided by Aimee Joynes, who cannot vouch for their authenticity, as she was using a borrowed watch, and for some other reason, probably having to do with her attention span. Breakfast was served at April Jones house (Tim lives there too). Embarrassing amounts of high-cholesterol food were consumed. I understood the swine-based food did not stand a chance, but some of it was an unappetizing soy based substitute. Thanks to April for slaving over a hot stove all morning. Also thanks to everyone who came out to race, watch, time etc. Thanks to the weatherman for a perfect day.
