INFO ON COACH RJ MYER

RJ enjoys working with larger athletes like himself. He understands the special technique and training needs of larger athletes to stay healthy and injury free. RJ runs 1-2 strength training sessions a week for MSOC members and also coaches some of the Nova Masters Swimming Practices.

 Here's some background on RJ:

  • Attended University of Virginia, received a B.A. in Biology and Human Movement in 1995.
  • Swam in high school; Self-Coached Freestyle Sprinter who focused on the 50yd freestyle (22.9) and the 100yd freestyle (50.0) placing in the top 6 in Region, respectively.
  • Rowed on the crew team in college; won Southern International Rowing Association Championships and earned a silver Medal at the Dad Vail Regatta (Placing 2nd out of 41 crews).  Invited to compete for a spot (did not make the team) on a small National Team that was to compete in the Middle East.
  • Started triathlons in 2004.  Triathlons completed include Wildflower Olympic, Nautica Malibu, Triathlon of the Desert Olympic, Hermosa Day at the Beach, Triathlon at Pacific Grove Olympic, and Lake Arrowhead Sprint Triathlon.
  • Won Super Clydesdale Division at the Hermosa Day at the Beach Triathlon in 2006.
  • American College of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer (ACSM-CPT)
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT)
  • American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer (ACE-CPT)
  • International Sports Science Association Certified Fitness Trainer (ISSA-CFT)
  • USA Triathlon Certified Coach (USAT-1)
  • American Swim Coaches Association Level 2 Certified Coach (ASCA-2)
