Liz Wilson and Kristi Loobeck spear headed the Defensive charge.  Loobeck had 11 boards, 6 steals and 2 blocked shots while Wilson played some fantastic defense on Wayzata star Thompson.

Wilson was busy on the offensive end as well scoring 18 points.  Kara Ryan added 8 big points for the Falcons that spearheaded a great comeback.  Nicole Dooher had 13, Alli Hoefer 11 and Alyssa Marschner pitched in 6.   Nicole Carlson gave great minutes.

In all the Falcons outscored the Trojans 34-22 in the 2nd half to notch another conference win 56-48.  The Falcons will head on the road to take on Holy Angels tomorrow then wrap up the regular season with conference battles at Hopkins and Edina.

Another tough conference win

Posted by Antiwan Easley at Feb 12, 2009 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Friday the 13th can be haunting to some, but on this night the Falcons gave some the chills as they notched another conference win against a good Minnetonka team.   The Skippers put up a terror of a fight and would not go away but behind the 17 points of Alli Hoefer the Falcons were able to end this night with a happy ending.

Nicole Carlson had two big three's on back to back possessions in the first half to give the Falcons some much needed momentum going into the half.   Alyssa Marschner and Nicole Dooher both pitched in 10 points.  Kara Ryan gave valuable minutes tonight and had some spectacular passes,  Kristi Loobeck added 8 points and 8 rebounds.

The Falcons are coming down the home stretch with conference dates left with Edina and Hopkins on the road and a home thriller with Wayzata.

Falcons notch another conference win

Posted by Antiwan Easley at Feb 5, 2009 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Conference wins in the Classic Lake can be a struggle to get as each team is good.  Every night you play you have to be ready to battle.  Edina came to Armstrong ready and put on a great show before a good sized crowd.

The atmosphere was electric all night.  We had the All-District Middle School band sitting in with the Armstrong band,  we had a pre-game celebration for Nicole Dooher acknowledging her milestone of 1000 points and the gym had many visitors that came to get a look at the conference battle.

The game was pretty much even throughout the night both teams having their opportunities to have the lead.  But in the end Kara Ryan hit two big shots to close out the game for the Falcons 58-55.  Ryan had a lay up off a steal and a 3 that lifted the Falcons momentum.  Dooher had a great night leading the Falcons with 19 points 5 rebounds, 5 Assists and 6 steals. Alyssa Marschner chipped in 15 and Alli Hoefer added 11.

The win runs the Falcons conference record to 3-1 and their overall record at 16-3.  Next up the Falcons will take on Minneapolis Southwest at Southwest High School on Tuesday.  The Falcons will return to conference play next Friday against Minnetonka at home.
