Timmins Minor Hockey have released their proposed U-9, U-8 and the U-7 Initiation program for the upcoming season which are in line with Hockey Canada’s Player Pathways structure. The menus on the left on our website outline the proposed structure of teams within the program for this coming 2020-2021 season. This will allow players to develop within their own specific age category. Programming will be delivered through a progressive, learn-to-play teaching curriculum that spans the seven and eight-year-old age groups. Children learn best through participating in practice drills and sessions.

The program consists of four levels of instruction, designed specifically for young hockey players. Each level consists of a series of practice plans (lesson plans) that follow a defined path of progressions. The skills of skating, puck control, passing and shooting are introduced and refined in a progressive, one-step-at-a-time manner. Although the emphasis is on fun and skill development, hockey at these ages should also allow youngsters to experience fitness, fair play and cooperation.

The specific player HC pathways for each age category can be found in the menu above under player pathways. Online registration for our programs coming soon!
