Our first 8U tournament team had a nice run this weekend at the Mt. SI BPA Classic hosted by the North Bend Knuckleballers at Central Park in Issaquah.  After a great battle in the championship game, MI Select finished second to Stods.  Congratulations to our youngest baseball stars!

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Mercer Island’s Select Baseball 10U Thunder team stormed through the competition to win five games and the championship.  The 10U bracket contained twelve teams from around the state, and the 10 Thunder emerged from pool play with a 44 to 4 run differential.  The 10U Thunder dispatched Sammamish Green in the semi-finals by the score of 9 to 3, and followed that with a 9 to 1 victory over Kennewick in the championship game.  The Islanders set the tone for the tournament in the first game pounding out over 15 hits, including 3 home runs.  The Islanders, who also won the Pasco tournament the prior year in the 9U division, coupled their hot bats with strong pitching and defense throughout the tournament to repeat as champions.

The Mercer Island Select 11U Thunder team went undefeated and captured first place in the USSSA Summer Celebration baseball tournament in Lacey, WA this weekend.  The team outscored their competition 24-5 in the three games, beating the PC Diamond Jaxx 5-3 in the championship game.  Pitchers Parker Simpson, Nikhil Nayar, Justin Ho and Matt Boissoneault led the team with outstanding efforts.
