News and Announcements

The Jaguars Varsity defeated the Warrensville Cowboys to become the 2009 Kick Off Classic Champions! There were 9 teams in the Varsity 12 & Under pool. The Jags won their first two games and went into the playoffs ranked #2, with the Cowboys ranked #1. They defeated the CCYF Falcons 19-6 to advance to the Championship Game where they defeated the Cowboys 7-6 to win the Championship.

This marks the 2nd year that Buckeye has participated in the tournament, last season the Jags and Jets Varsity went, this season their respective JV Squads also went giving us 4 teams representing Buckeye. The Jaguars won all 3 of the games they played last season but didn't get to the playoff rounds due to the criteria used to rank the teams. They made up for it this year, they now have a 7-0 record in the tournament, scoring 89 points while giving up only 25 and posting 3 shutouts.

Congratulations to Head Coach Paul Fowler, Assistant Coaches Mike Arena, Chris Calta and Bryan Willis and all the Jaguars Varsity players. You played hard, had a great experience and showed Buckeye Pride!

Medina Spring Flag Tournament

Posted by Dave Rea at Apr 9, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
This year the 9-10 year old Buckeye Jaguars participated in the Medina Bee’s 5 on 5 Spring Flag-Tournament. There were 4 teams participating in our division. We won our first game by foreit over the Medina Sharks and won our second game 27-22 over the Medina Monsters. It took us a last minute drive to win the game leaving only 30 seconds on the clock.

In the championship game we faced the Medina Predators and we fell 22-6 and brought home second place. Our players played very well for only having two practices prior to the tournament. Overall it was great to see how well these kids pulled together and played as a team and never gave up or backed down!

I would like to thank the following players and their parents for their participation:

Adam Fauver, Zakary Fowler, Eric Keller, Jaret Lowry, Justin Lowry, Jonathan Neel, Garret Rivett and Zachary Schnepp.

Thanks,

Eric Keller

2008 Buccaneers Season

Posted by Dave Rea at Jan 27, 2009 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The 2008 Season for the Buccaneers again saw them not be able to field enough players for a Varsity Squad, So they soldiered on with a JV Squad and the newly created Pee Wee Squad. It was the second season for Head Coach Chris Calta.

The JV Squad did a bit of a reversal by posting a 2-6 mark as opposed to the 6-2 mark they had finished with in 2007. Coach Calta was pleased with their progress the players made as the season went on since there were some new faces on the squad. The biggest obstacle in the JV Division was scheduling and the strength of some of the Strongsville team.

The new Pee Wee Squad had it's struggles as did the other two BYFA squads since the rosters were created with 14 players. The division overall was a success but changes will be made in 2008 to beef up squad size and get the teams headed in a more learning that 'winning' attitude. They were coached by Head Coach Dave Chaney and Assistants Greg Thomas and Kirk Vozar.

Stacey Stoll completed her 3rd season as Bucs Head Cheer Coach by coaching the Pee Wee Cheer Squad and Kathe Kriz coached the JV Squad.

The 2008 Season was the final season for the Buccaneers. After creation of the Pee Wee Division and the numbers that we had over the last 3 to 4 seasons the decision was made to dissolve the Bucs and draft the players onto the Jaguars and Jets Squads and continue on with just 2 teams. The Bucs had a good run in their 8 seasons of existance.

2008 Bucks Flag Season

Posted by Dave Rea at Jan 27, 2009 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Bucks Flag Squad was created due to the creation of the Pee Wee Division. The team was made up of 6 year olds and they got an introduction to football and had alot of fun at it along the way. As they move up the players and cheerleaders will follow their siblings to the teams they are on or be entered into the draft.

The Bucks were coached by Head Coach Dave Yorko. The Bucks Cheer Squad was coached by Sheila Schnepp and Janet Clark.
