2007 Jaguars Season

Posted by Dave Rea at Nov 24, 2007 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The 2007 season of Jaguar football saw the Varsity go 4-4 in the regular season and make the playoffs for the 7th time and the first in 3 seasons. The bowed out in the first round but the fact that they went .500 on the regular season and got there did alot for turning the program around and getting it back on track.

The JV squad struggled during the season but finished the season playing better football than they did at the beginning which is the goal of all the teams every year. The Flag squad was under 2nd year Head Coach Eric Keller, who also helped out with the JV. The Jags also had a familiar face helping out when he could, Coach Cleatus Varney who coached with the Jags from 1997-1999 and was the Head Coach of the Jets in 2000 and 2001.

Coach Wren Roskey took a bit of a step back as she had coaches for all 3 Jag Cheer Squads. She continued as the league cheer coordinator and finished her 10th season overall. She was recognized with a plaque for her dedication to the program at the end of the year awards in November.

The 2006 edition of the Jaguars brought a new Head Coach on the scene. Dave Kargle arrived to see if he could breathe some new life into the Jags and get them going back in the right direction.  He led restored discipline along with having fun and the Jags started to buy in to the routine.  They went 2-7 on the campaign, but the tide had begun to turn.

The JV squad went 3-5 which was not playoff worthy, but the idea with the JV is get them experience and ready them to play on the Varsity team. The Flag squad was under new Flag Head Coach Eric Keller and two new assistants in Paul Schnepp and Paul Fowler.

Wren Roskey remained as Head Cheer Coach and league coordinator as she coached her way through her 9th season in BYFA.

2007 Buccaneers Season

Posted by Dave Rea at Nov 24, 2007 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The 2007 Season for the Buccaneers was kinda like 2006 was for the Jets. The Buccaneers due to junior high football and players deciding not to play caused 9 players that did return to be split between the Jags and Jets and the Bucs did not field a Varsity squad.

Head Coach Scot Asvestas due to work conflicts had to step away for the 2007 Season and may not return at all. The Board of Directors named Chris Calta acting Head Coach for the 2007 Season with a final decision to be made before 2008 begins.

Coach Calta led the Bucs JV to a 6-2 mark, but with the strength in his division they did not make the playoffs. The Flag squad is still maintaining a good roster size in it's 3rd season, they were coached by Dave Chaney and Paul Good.

Stacey Stoll completed her 2nd season as Head Cheer Coach and was assisted by Heidi Sweeney with the JV Squad.

2006 Jets Season

Posted by Dave Rea at Nov 24, 2007 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The 2006 Season saw the Jets not field a Varsity Squad, due to low signup numbers and kids going on to Junior High football the Jets Varsity was shelved for the season.

The JV Squad did take up the slack as their division became competative again and they were able to complete the regular season with a 9-0 mark.  The 3rd time a BYFA squad had gone undefeated in regular season play. They were not able to clinch the Championship as they dropped the last game to the Brunswick Jets by the difference of an extra point 7-6.

Head Coach Steve Watkins dropped back and had some fun as he guided the Flag team all season.

The Jets fielded JV and Flag Cheerleaders and were coached by Kim Watkins who finished her coaching after 7 seasons in Buckeye Youth Football.
