Buckeye Youth Football and Cheer Families,
Rather than practice this coming Thursday 9/21/2023 BYFA will follow tradition and participate in the Buckeye High School Homecoming Parade. At 5:30pm please meet your team in the grass area between the bus garage and the school parking lot as shown below. Football players please wear your game jerseys and Cheerleaders your Buckeye uniforms or spirit wear per your Coach’s direction. By 6:00pm the parade lineup will kick off and our teams will walk together once around the football stadium track. Please coordinate with your team coaches for candy to toss out to the crowd! Teams can meet parents after the parade back in the grass area by the bus garage.

Thank you and Go Bucks!

Buckeye Youth Football and Cheer Families,
Please join us for our annual Reverse Raffle fundraiser Saturday, September 30th at the Medina VFW! As communicated previously our registration costs cover only our yearly operating expenses. All field improvements such as our bleachers, equipment shed, blocking sled, new storage container, etc. have been provided by our fundraisers and the great support by our community.

Tickets for the fundraiser will be available after practices typically Tuesdays and Thursdays at the equipment shed! Each ticket includes dinner, drinks and your raffle entry for the $1000 grand prize! We had huge success last season with a record number of side boards and raffle prizes. The event sold out at capacity weeks early so please get your tickets soon!

Family sponsorships are appreciated and available regardless of event attendance. The attached sponsorship form can also be submitted at practices. To coordinate another event ticket or donation pickup please contact fundraising@buckeyeyouthfootball.com.

Buckeye Youth Football Families,

Thank you for registering your player for the 2023 season! We are all excited to get started! The BYFA Board is finalizing rosters now and Head Coaches will be in contact with you soon. Please first see the general season information below.

Physical: All 3rd to 6th grade football players are required to have an active physical on file to participate in practices or games. Physicals from last year must be dated 10/1/2022 or later to be valid for the entire 2023 season. OHSAA guideance allows physicals to be valid for 13 months as many insurance plans only provide one per year. Thus last season’s physical may be valid for the start of practices but a follow up physical would be needed to continue. Forms may be turned in at equipment handouts, mailed to our PO box or by the first practice attended. Grades K-2 Flag Football and all Cheer do not require a physical.

Grades 3-6 Equipment Handouts: Will be Wednesday, July 12th 6-8:30pm and Saturday, July 15th 8-11am at the equipment room in the Liverpool Community Center (6801 School St, Valley City, OH 44280). Players are required to provide their own padded girdle compression shorts and are recommended to wear them to try on the football pants. Padded compression shirts worn under the shoulder pads are allowed but not required. Please bring a clothes basket or large bag to gather your equipment in.

Grades K-2 Equipment Handouts: Will take place at the first regular practice on August 1st where only required mouth guards will be distributed.

(All Cheer practice information will be communicated separately)

Grades 3rd-6th Practice: BYFA will follow the latest OHSAA practice schedule allowance. The first and second practices (per player) for OHSAA required acclimation will be HELMETS ONLY with shorts and cleats. The 3rd and 4th practices add shoulder pads and the 5th practice is full equipment. All 3-6 players must complete these 5 acclimation practices before participation in full contact. OHSAA non-mandatory practices will begin Monday, July 24th for an early acclimation opportunity. OHSAA mandatory practices begin Monday, July 31st. The first 3 weeks starting July 24th, practice will be M-T-W-Th 6:30-8:00pm. Starting the week of August 14th practices will be 3 times per week at T-W-Th 6:30-8:00pm. After Labor Day September 4th practice times will move up to 6:00-7:30pm for all grades. Please ensure players bring an individual and labeled REUSABLE water bottle for all practices!

Grades K-2nd Practice: Grades K-2 Flag do not follow OHSAA practice requirements as considered non-contact. There will be early Flag ‘camp’ practices July 25th and 27th 6:30-8pm. These will be great opportunities for our youngest players to condition and run drills to start the season as a collective group. Regular team Flag practices will start Tuesday, August 1st 6:30-8:00pm and will be Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the season. Once more, after Labor Day September 4th practice times will move up to 6:00-7:30pm for all grades. Please ensure players bring an individual and labeled REUSABLE water bottle for all practices!

Season Details: The LEYFL season schedule is to be published by August 19th. Games will be on Saturdays this Fall at varying start times. A minimum 7 game regular season will start the weekend of August 26th. Single elimination playoffs to begin October 14th and conclude no later than October 28th.

Fall Reverse Raffle Fundraiser: BYFA is excited to host our annual Fall fundraiser gathering Saturday, September 30th at the Medina VFW Post 5137. Ticket cost of $45 per person includes dinner, drinks and your entry into the reverse raffle drawing with a grand prize of $1000! Tickets will be available with later notice at practices through the season. Expect more event information and sponsorship opportunity announcements soon!
