Benefit Concert: Music and Memories - Honoring a Hometown Hero
The City Poway has been very supportive in our effort to try and renovate the fields at Tierra Bonita. Please see below information regarding a benefit concert the City is holding to honor a great hero of Poway, Tony Gwynn.
The City of Poway is pleased to announce a benefit concert event to support the building of the Tony Gwynn Memorial in Poway. The concert will take place at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts on April 1, 2016, at 8:00 p.m. This concert will kick off the City’s fundraising efforts for the memorial.
Entertainment includes Tony Gwynn’s longtime Padres teammate Tim Flannery with his band the Lunatic Fringe; Richie McDonald of Lonestar; Steve Vaus; Glen Erath; Eve Selis; and, Back to the Garden. San Diego media personality Mark Larson will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. The evening will also feature guest appearances by San Diego sports stars such as Shawne Merriman and others to be announced soon.
The evening will not only include great music, but also memories of Poway’s Hometown Hero – Tony Gwynn. In addition, there will be a live auction of unique Tony Gwynn memorabilia, and the opportunity to be recognized as a sponsor on the memorial’s donor wall. The evening will conclude with the unveiling of the selected memorial design. All proceeds will go directly to fund the project.
