Thank you for your interest in Swim Florida, Cape Coral!

Our swimmers had a very strong showing this past Saturday at the Charlotte County Swimming (CCS) meet in Englewood. Ten swimmers achieved eighteen new swimming standards.
Motivational standards (B, BB, A, AA, AAA, AAAA) are maintained by United States of America Swimming, based on national performances. These standards are reviewed and adjusted every four years. The American Swimming Coaches Association recognizes these standards with patches and chevrons that swimmers can purchase at our pool. For their very first standard achieved, our team gives the swimmer an age group patch with their first chevron. After that, swimmers purchase additional chevrons for $1.00. The team makes no money in this program. We hope all swimmers find this program a way of personally recognizing and displaying their progress in the journey toward excellence in our sport.
USA Swimming has seventy-nine local swimming committees across the country. Each LSC establishes their own standards for championship meets. In our LSC (Florida Swimming), our age group championships (FLAGS) have some of the fastest standards in the country. Swimmers reaching these “cuts” have accomplished a significant marker in our sport.
Brent Baker (13) reached a Florida Swimming Age Group Championship (FLAGS) cut in the 100y Butterfly with a time of 1:00.81 (-2.62 seconds).
Evan Baker (13) dropped 1.18 seconds in the 100y Freestyle with a time of 55.52 (A), and 3.33 seconds in the 200y Backstroke, covering the distance in 2:22.96 (BB).
Zachary Baril (15) reached “BB” in the 100y Freestyle with a 57.54 (-1.12).
Lian Dugan (15) dropped a total of 6.68 seconds in his three events. In the 100y Fly Liam posted 1:01.94 (-1.81) for “BB”. Next, in the 200y Individual Medley (I.M.) he hit the touch pad with a time of 2:19.68 (-3.08) for anther “BB”, and finished things off in the 100y Freestyle with a “BB” time of 56.62 (-1.79).
Ryan Francis (12) captured a “B” in the 200y Freestyle with an impressive 2:32.65 (-21.89) and added another “B” in the 50y Butterfly with a time of 35.90 (-9.61).
