The annual Swim Florida Summer League Championships will take place at the Fort Myers Aquatic Center on Saturday, August 18th. All team members are expected to participate in this fun event. Warm-up will be 10:00 AM with the meet starting at 11:00. Awards – Medals for 1 – 3, and ribbons for 4 – 8. All participating swimmers will receive a commemorative meet T-shirt. In addition, all Cape Swimmers will be given special items showing this year’s team theme. Don’t miss out in this year’s meet! We are competing with all Swim Florida pools, and every point scored is important. Support our team!!!

Skylar moved into lane 8 for the championship final in the 100m Breaststroke, and showed some amazing outside heat, taking another 1.2 seconds off his prelims time, finishing 6th with another best time (1:23.03). Way to go Skylar!

Skylar Gusler dropped 3 seconds as he placed 9th in prelims at the 2018 Florida Swimming Age Group Championships in Sarasota this morning. His time of 1:24.23 places him in the middle of the pool for this evening’s consolation finals. You can follow the results on Meet Mobile.

Cape swimmers handled themselves extremely well moving from our 25-yard pool to the 50 meter St. Petersburg pool. Twenty-seven teams participated in the meet that had some heavy rains and some lightning delays. Our swimmers seemed right at home competing at the longer distance. Hayden Tedhams (10) set three new team records, picked up his first 11-year-old FLAG cut, and took home high point honors for 9 & 10-year-old boys. In the 400m Free, Hayden placed 3rd with a new record that dated back to 2006 completing the distance in 5:32.99 (-19.90 FLAG AA). Hayden shaved 1.80s off his team record in the 100m Back finishing in 1:22.84 (FLAG AAA). In the 200m I.M. he finished first with a FLAG time 3:04.32. Hayden took second in the 50m Breast (47.13 FLAG), 6th in the 50m Free (34.97 FLAG), and first in the 100m Free in 1;13.79 (-.91 FLAG). Saving the best for last, in the 50m Back, Hayden lowered his own team record finishing in 37.62 (-1.21), as he earned his first 11-year-old FLAG cut with a AAA time). Maddie Lehman (12) finished 3rd in high point for 11 & 12 girls. In the 100m Breast, Maddie’s time of 1:30.47 lowered a 1997 team record by .67 finishing 2nd. Maddie took first place honors in the 200m I.M. with a time of 2:44.21 (-6.52 FLAG AA). In the Senior 200m Butterfly, Maddie dropped 2.17s finishing 10th in 3:09.07 (BB). In the Senior 200m Free, Maddie dropped .57s with a time of 2:26.36 (FLAG AA). Maddie finished 6th in the 400m I.M. in 5:59.57. She stopped the clock in 1:05.48 (-1.01 FLAG AAA) placing 2nd, and in the 100m Butterfly finished 2nd with a best time of 1:18.16 (-2.06 A). Jacob Lehman (10) posted a best time in the 100m Free with 1:44.63 (-.84s) and the 100m Breast stopping the clock at 2:17.58 (-5.29s). Alexis Marburger (12) dropped 13.27 in the 200m Free (2:56.82 B). Alexis also had a best time in the 50m Free with 36.62 (-.23 B). Taylor Tedhams (7) was 4th in the meet high point scoring for 8 & under girls. In the 50m Breast, Taylor placed 6th with a time of 1:08.83. In the 50m Butterfly she finished 4th with a best time of 1:00.80 (-1.58). in the 50m Free, Taylor dropped 2.42s with a time of 48.04, and in the 50m Back, Taylor finished 5th with another best time of 56.56 (-2.49).
