Our 8 Village Viking high school swimmers who qualified for state are leaving today to go compete in the TAPPS 4A State Championship Swim Meet. The meet is scheduled to start on Friday, February 12th, at 2:30pm. This is a historic achievement for our high school swimming program and our athletes as they represent the first Viking swimmers to qualify for state in the history of our school. As a first year program, we are ecstatic for the potential of the program and the foundation this team and coaching staff have implemented in year one. Good luck to all of our swimmers!

Last night, the Varsity boys soccer team traveled to Lutheran South Academy to play a district match. The stakes were high with a district title hanging in the balance. This game was a battle between the 1st and 2nd ranked teams in the district. Having beaten Lutheran South at home earlier in the year in a dramatic penalty shootout, the Vikings needed to win this game to secure a second straight district title. With the added support of Viking Nation who traveled on a fan bus to the game, the boys were focused and played their best soccer of the year under the most intense circumstances. Our boys demonstrated a tremendous amount of skill, poise, resiliency, and teamwork. It was a beautiful display as we surgically dismantled the opposition. When asked about winning another district title, Coach Guevara stated that, “It’s a great accomplishment for the boys and the program to win another district title. The game against Lutheran South was a tough game. They are a great team who are coached very well. I am proud of our team and how we managed our emotions and played a great game.”

With a district title locked up, the Vikings focus shifts towards the state tournament. Taking one game at a time, the Vikings are playing their best soccer of the year and hungry to make a deep run and repeat as State Champions.

Congratulations to our entire boys soccer program, players, and coaches for their incredible undefeated run to a second consecutive TAPPS 4A District Championship!

Go Vikings!
