Our Varsity Coaching Committee meets each week to discuss their programs in an effort to create consistency and excellence throughout our athletic department. One of their recent tasks was to define what “Culture of Champions” means to them.

After finishing 6-3 in the regular season, the Varsity football team advanced to the TAPPS Independent State Playoffs for the first time in school history. As a 3 seed, our Vikings will take on St. Dominic Savio from Austin. The game will be played on Friday, October 28th, at 7:00PM in Giddings, TX. This is an incredible achievement for our football team, and for second year Head Coach, Kevon Bagot, it must be assuring that his program is headed in the right direction. The school is providing a fan bus to the game to help cheer on our Vikings to victory!
The Varsity cross country team will also be competing in the post-season. After a strong district showing last Tuesday, our Viking runners are poised to show what they can do at the TAPPS 6A State Championship this Saturday in Waco, TX. At the district meet, our boys team took 3rd place overall, led by Junior Alex A-E. and Eduardo G, who took 3rd and 5th respectively. The girls team finished 4th, and were led by defending 4A State Champion, Charlotte S, who finished 2nd overall at the district meet. Good luck to our Village Viking cross country team this weekend! Go Vikings!
This past Tuesday, Village cross country competed in the new TAPPS District 3 6A(Large School) Championships. Boys Varsity, having finished 3rd in 4A last year finished 3rd in 6A this year, and beat rival Katy St John 23. St. Thomas won the race, followed by St Pius. The Viking harriers’ 5 scorers finished 4 seconds behind St Pius. I’m especially proud of the effort put forth in the heat by Marco and Federico.
Girls Varsity placed a respectable 4th, led by Charlotte who placed 2nd overall. St Agnes dominated the meet placing 6 runners in the top 7. Concordia Lutheran was 2nd.
JV boys, led by Lance V, finished 2nd behind St. Thomas..
Medalists in Boys Varsity were Alex in 3rd, Eduardo in 6th, and Kaushal in 15th. Charlotte took home 2nd and Doris 12th, in Girls Varsity. Lance Vu grabbed a 15th place medal in JV Boys. Congrats to all Vikings medalists!
Lastly, a shout out to all of the coaches and students who showed up to the meet to cheer the runners on. Many on the team mentioned how motivating it was to have the support. Thanks!

The Middle School cross country team picked a great time to run their best. At the HJPC conference championship, the team earned 4 medals, which was a season high, and set more personal records than at any other meet this season. These accomplishments are a testament to their hard work, determination, and commitment to improving. Among the 4 medalists were: Derin S, Elisabeth S, Maria S, and Nelly B. These 4 runners finished top 10 in district for their division. We would also like to thank our 8th grade runners for an outstanding middle school career. We will miss you, but look forward to seeing all of your accomplishments when you transition to the high school team. Great season and Go Vikings!
