It is with a very heavy heart that The Varsity Volleyball Team share the news of our friend, Kelly Hults Lopez, who passed away after a very tough fight with neuroendocrine cancer. Always positive, with a contagious laugh and smile for everyone, she loved her family fiercely and fought so hard to be around as long as possible for her two young girls. Please continue to keep her family, and especially her husband Hector and 4 and 2 year old daughters, Olivia and Sophia, in your thoughts and prayers.
On Thursday, September 24th the JV and Varsity girls volleyball teams will be honoring Kelly Hultz Lopez at their home game against St. John Paul 23. Please join us as we celebrate her life and raise funds for those left behind. The first game starts at 4:30pm.

“Michael Li gets his ball out of the cup as his Little Linksters playing partners look on. Michael had his hole in one on #7 at Longwood Country Club from 118 yards. Way to go, Michael” (STPGA Newsletter). Michael L, 6th grade student at The Village School, made his first hole in one on Sunday, September 13th, at a Junior Golf tournament at Longwood Country Club. This is an INCREDIBLE achievement. Golfers can go an entire lifetime and never make a hole in one. Congratulations to Michael. I’m sure that ball will go in a nice display case for you to enjoy for the rest of your life. The Village School golf team can’t wait to have this youngster on the team! Congratulations, Michael!

The Varsity girls volleyball team is a couple of days away from their first district game of the year. The Vikings travel to Northland Christian HS on Thursday and are looking to start strong in TAPPS District 5-4A. The Vikings played a competitive non-conference schedule in order to prepare for the challenges that await them in district. The girls tasted success having won the Silver bracket of the Baytown Christian Tournament. They played in one of the state’s premier HS volleyball tournaments when they traveled to the Allen Tournament. That tournament fields a number of Division 1 players from all over the state of Texas. “This is the best way to speed up the growth process of such a young team. The girls have developed so much in such a short time. They know what is ahead of them and they are excited for the opportunity.” This young team is looking to keep building from the experience they have gained and hope that will propel them into district play. Good luck to our Lady Viking volleyball team on Thursday. The team’s first district home game is scheduled for Thursday, September 24th at 5:30pm. Come and support your Lady Vikings! District starts now!

History Being Made

The Varsity football team is only three games into their young season, but the Vikings are giving us plenty of reasons to believe that this team is special. For the first time in school history, the Vikings have started 3-0. Any time you make school history, you know something special is happening. Lets look a little deeper. Through the first three games, the Vikings have outscored their opponents by a combined 113- 20! The Vikings aren’t exactly squeaking by the opposition. They are DOMINATING them in all phases of the game. They have combined for 15 rushing touchdowns through 3 games. They have an identity, led by Senior running back, Draylyn D, who has 12 rushing touchdowns in the same span. Their defense has been stingy, allowing less than 7 points per game through the first 3 games. They are getting pressure on the quarterback and creating turnovers. They have tremendous Senior leadership with a number of 4 year Varsity players on both sides of the ball. Another reason to be optimistic is the fact that the Vikings have played 2 of the first 3 games on the road so far this season. With 6 of their remaining 8 games coming at home, the Vikings are set up to break more school records. It’s easy to get excited, but this team isn’t taking anything for granted. They are staying focused and disciplined. These two things are the foundation of Coach Bagot’s philosophy. The Vikings are home for their next game on Friday, September 18th. Kick off is set for 5:00pm. Come and show your support for your Varsity football team. Go Vikings!
