On behalf of the girls Junior Varsity basketball program, I would like to thank our girls for all the time and hard work they have put in over this season. This year, we experienced an untraditional schedule, as most of the district teams did not have a junior varsity team. With all the extra practices and the games we did get to play, the girls played hard and got better each day. We went into each game with confidence and found ourselves in some close games. The girls have come a long way from the first day of practice and I am extremely proud of them. The girls learned the skills needed to play the game of basketball, while building their social skills and creating great friendships. As our season has come to an end, I will miss this group of girls and I wish them good luck in their Spring seasons.

On behalf of the MS Basketball coaching staff, we would like to thank all of our parents and players for a great season. I want to thank the parents, for having patience after long hours of practice and sacrificing time to allow us to practice on weekends as well. We played in some tough games and lost some close ones, but we always battled our hearts out. Even when we came up short, your support never wavered. This not only means a lot to us as coaches, but it means a lot to the kids as well. It was an honor coaching this group. It was great to see the confidence of our players increase as the season went along. At the beginning of the season, the kids were still learning the game. By the end of the season, they became more eager to jump into game action and would say, “Coach I’m ready to play”! We also had a lot of parents take photos and record videos at our games to help capture all of the great moments and fun throughout our season. Thank you!

Our team experienced a lot of ups and downs because of injuries, holiday vacations, and 2 sport athletes this season, but it did not stop the team’s progress. It gave other guys a chance to step their game up. We’ve had some exciting games, like winning 3 games in double overtime. That shows how mentally tough this group was. They had a resilience and a will to win. We also had some 1st time players who stepped up and became starters late in the season. We had a large number of different starting lineups throughout the season.

The boys also made their 3rd appearance in the HJPC Tournament in 5 years. We are most proud of the fact that every kid on the roster improved. They had a great attitude all year long and worked so hard at each practice. They experienced their fair share of aches and pains, but they are all better for it. To those players who experienced injuries during our season, we wish you a speedy recovery and hope you are ready for the spring season. We also received a lot of compliments on how well our kids handled themselves during away games.

We will really miss this group of kids. We enjoyed being around each other and bonded together very quickly. It was nice to see such a great rapport among the team and I’m sure they will miss spending time together as well. Good luck to everyone during their Winter and Spring seasons.

The 8th grade girls basketball season has come to an end and I must say we faced many challenges and hopefully learned a bit about the importance of commitment, desire, passion, hard work and teamwork. We started off with loads of energy and desire to learn, many games in a short time frame, and few practices to prepare for the competition we faced. The Christmas Holiday came and being off for almost a month made it challenging for the New Year. The month of January was a busy month with two to three games per week. The girls played with more passion, heart and fight, trying to make the end of season TN but we just ran out of steam. The girls had a fun team social the last home game, enjoying pizza & chick-fila and the highlight was when the 6th, 7th & 8th grade girls scrimmaged each other during half-time of the JV game in the CANCER Vikings eve. Thank You parents for all your support and providing snacks & drinks for every game! We wish the girls all the best in their spring sports and getting ready for next basketball season!

Thank you to our parents, and all who participated, for the support of our Village Swim Team. We could not have been so successful without your help and dedication.

It has been a pleasure getting to help these student-athletes improve both in their swim skills and sportsmanship. From 6th to 8th grade, boys and girls all worked together supporting and pushing each other to be successful. We had a great season, and as a team we improved so much from last season when we came in 6th at HJPC. Also, The Village School still holds 3 HJPC swim records; Boys 200 Medley Relay at 1:58.03, Mac B. 100 IM at 1:00.04, and Olivia G. 50 Free at 25.82.

This season, The Village School finished 3rd and our Boys Team won 1st as the HJPC Champion! For our relays, we scored Girls Medley 7th place, Boys Medley 1st place, & Boys Free 1st place. The top 8 times for individual races were Alex C. 1st 100 Free & 1st 50 Breast, Daniel I. 2nd 50 Free & 1st 50 Back, Matthew W. 3rd 100 IM & 3rd 50 Fly, Cole B. 5th 100 IM & 3rd 50 Breast, Arsyad G. 8th 50 Free & 3rd 100 Free, Shay B. 6th 50 Back, and Gabby B. 50 Fly 8th. Every single student-athlete on the team earned at least two person best times in the season. That was the goal and I am so proud of everyone accomplishing and/or surpassing it! All of the hard work and late night practices have paid off. I loved how excited everyone was for the meet shaking the competition’s hands, saying good luck and good job, cheering on deck, and watching each other’s races. Way to end the season with so many victories and positive attitudes! We represented Village very well.

I look forward to another great season next year, and hopefully in our own Village School pool!

Go Viking!
