Welcome Players & Families!

This is the 2005 BHLL Astros website.

TOUGH SEASON!

After starting the season 2-1, the Astros have had some rough games.  On Mon 5/23/05, the Astros had a 3 run lead going into the last inning. The Clawson Cardinals came back to tie the score and the Astros couldn't score in their half of the inning. The teams agreed to play one extra inning. Each team scored a run and the game ended in a tie. The game ball was presented to LeRon Harden who is hitting as good as anyone right now. He went 3 for 3 in the game.

On Wed 5/25/05, the Clawson Indians did not have enough players and had to forfeit the game to the Astros. Because it was a beautiful day, both teams decided to play a scrimmage game. Both teams needed the practice! Currently, the Astros record is 3-4-1.

The next game for the Astros is against the Red Sox on Thursday June 2 at Beverly Park.  Players should be at the field at 5:45pm.

Check in weekly to see updates to the website. We appreciate the support each family provides to their son and our team. If you ever have questions or concerns about the team or players, please contact Dave or Greg. Dave can be reached at (248)593-2531 or email DBFabbri@comcast.net. Greg can be reached at (248)723-8801 or email GFrederik@beaumonthospitals.com.

Drink/Snack Schedule:
Please view and print the game schedules. Next to each game is a family name who will be responsible for bringing the drink/snack for that game (13 players). If there's a scheduling conflict and you need to switch snack dates, contact either another family or us.

Player Development:
The coaches want to express the importance of player practice outside of scheduled team practices. As much as possible, please encourage your son to play catch or start a pickup game with friends. Also, during practices there isn't enough time to give each player the amount of hitting practice that he needs. Batting cages will help him develop his hand/eye coordination, timing and swing. In regards to pitching, we will begin to have some or all players who want to pitch stay an extra 30 minutes after practice on Saturdays. We need this time to work with them individually on their mechanics.

Our Coaching Philosophy:
We want the players to understand the game and play it the right way. A player at this level should know what to do and when to do it in a game without a coach giving constant instruction. This helps the player not only develop the necessary skills for the game, but also the knowledge and strategy of the game. Our expectation of each player is to be respectful of their teammates, coaches and the opposing team. This helps each of us to respect the game.

Thank you again for your support and GO ASTROS!
