Riverside vs. Lakewood - Saturday, December 6

Riverside’s first season game on Saturday, December 6th at our home rink, was a very competitve match.  Riverside surprised Lakewood with an exciting goal in the first period on a power play where Ryan Zawacki skillfully scored off precise assists from Michael Branem and Joe Hughes giving Riverside an early lead.  The line simply outsmarted the goalie and it was all net!  Great team work!  Lakewood didn’t take our goal lying down, they came back in the first period scoring twice ending the first period with Lakewood ahead by 1.  Second period Jordan Sintic made a great goal off of another accurate pass, this time from Ryan Zawacki, it was a text book play and nicely done.  It tied the score.  Despite the fact Riverside did not score again and Lakewood put two more in the net, one of which was late in the third period into an empty net making the final score Lakewood 4, Riverside 2...it was a hard fought game and our boys gave Lakewood a run for their money.  Christian Parkes faced 27 shots and had 23 saves, making a strong showing as our freshman goalie.
