EAGLES CONTINUE TO SOAR

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Feb 5, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Trumbull Eagles closed out Amity 8-1 this past saturday to even out their record to 8-8-0. Trumbull needs two more wins to qualify for the state tournament and will face Fairfield, Norwalk, Wilton and Stamford in their final four games. Lately, the Eagles have been getting scoring from all three forward lines. The offensive explosion against Amity saw half the goals coming from Trumbull defensemen. Matt Christoffersen and Marty Lizotte each notched their first goal of the season. Captain, Ryan Criscuolo, hammered home two. This was Ryan's second consecutive two goal game, earning him the Connecticut Post's "Male Athlete of the Week" honors. The Amity victory represented Trumbull's fifth win in a row. The winning streak has seen the Eagles outscore their opponents 29-3 collectively. imageimage

The Trumbull Eagles recently got a surprise visit from hockey legend, Mark Messier. The Ranger star, who was at the rinks to watch his nephew, popped into the THS locker room just prior to their game with Staples HS. Messier shook hands and chatted with Trumbull players and coaches. Before leaving, he signed a poster of himself celebrating a goal during the Rangers memorable 1994 Stanley Cup victory. The Eagles beat the Wreckers 6-0.imageimage

MIRESSI HELPS SNAP LOSING STREAK

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Jan 25, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Sophomore, Dan Miressi, scored two third period goals to give Trumbull a 2-0 victory over Watertown (6-3-1). Watertown goaltender, Eric Tietz, frustrated the Eagles who out shot the Warriors 38-23. Missing some early opportunities, the Trumbull skaters found themselves dead-locked at zero with one period to play. Miressi, always dangerous around the net, finally cracked the Watertown goaltending, chipping in two with strong support from James and Patrick Devore. Charlie Ogalin pitched his first shut-out of the season. The Trumbull defense also played well, especially in the final minutes with the Warriors pushing hard to close the gap.image

TRUMBULL DROPS SEVEN IN A ROW

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Jan 15, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Eagles have struggled through the first part of their tough conference schedule with seven straight losses. The Trumbull skaters fell to New Canaan (twice), Greenwich (twice), Darien, Westhill and Ridgefield. The good news is that all seven losses were delivered by division 1 opponents and that Trumbull only has one division 2 loss so far this season. In fact, the Eagles found themselves in the third period of each game (excluding Darien & Ridgefield) within one goal of taking the lead. The bad news is that the home team could not close out any of these tight games and was a victim of inconsistent play.imageimage
