Heartwell CA - The 2003 Pony League World Series Champion

Heartwell of Lakewood, California won the 2003 Pony League World Series in Washington, Pennsylvania. Nick Evans held the big bats of Humacao to five hits in a complete game win, 4-3. A three run third inning was the margin of difference for Lakewood. In the completion of game 13 prior to the championship game, Christian Saez had two home runs and record-tying seven RBI as Humacao blasted New York, 13-2 to advance to the championship game against Lakewood, California. Saez also tied the record of 12 RBI in a series. Lakewood's Kyle Christensen won the ERA title, while New York's Jean Carlos Rodriguez won the batting championship. Jose Ortiz sacrificed Rivera to second. Rivera took third on the play becasuse no player was covering. A sacrifice fly by Frank Molina scored Rivera. Humacao 2nd: Adalberto Alvira led off with a home run to center. Lakewood 2nd: Travis Darnaud led off with a double to left. After an out, Pat Colwell walked. David Ross reached by infield single near short to load the bases. Nick Evans reached by infield single near short, scoring Darnaud. Jonathan Johnson singled to left, scoring Colwell, leaving the bases still loaded. Michael Beltran walked, forcing home Ross. Lakewood 3rd: Jeff Fischer led off with a walk. Travis Darnaud walked. Pat Colwell reached by error (SS), loading the bases. David Ross singled to left, scoring Fischer. Humacao 6th: After two outs, Christian Saez singled to center. Adalberto Alvira singled to center.
