SCP 2018 Summer Recap

SOUTH CHARLOTTE PANTHERS 2018  -  SUMMER RECAP

The SCP 2018s completed the summer portion of the season with a 33-6-2 (.829) record including winning the Championship of the Perfect Game Super 25 North Carolina Championship. Nine 2018s were a part of the SCP 2017 teams run to the Championship Game of the PG WWBA 17U including Owen White; Cameran Brantley; Cameron Prugh; Jaylen Guy; Rohan Handa; Jeremiah Boyd; Trey Tujetsch; Ray Torres and Clayton Gilmore.

The Panthers will begin the fall season on September 10 and play in 5 events to wrap up the 2016 season.

Offensively the Junior Cats finished the summer with a ..334 Team Batting Average; Scoring 257 Runs for a 6.3 Per Game Average.

The offense was led by IF Jaylen Guy who hit .398 (33-83) with 17 RBIs and 36 Runs Scored. Jaylen also led the team in Stolen Bases with 16. 1B Reed Hedberg finished the summer hitting .389 (35-90) including 4 Doubles and a Triple while Driving In 32 Runs. 3B Nick Solomita hit .349 (29-83) including 5 Doubles; a Triple and Scored 26 Runs while Stealing 11 Bases. C Jeremiah Boyd hit .340 (34-100) including a team leading 9 Doubles; 2 Triples and a HR while Driving In 28 Runs. 

Rohan Handa .375 (24-64) with 14 RBIs; Trey Tujetsch .319 (29-91); Stephen Ridge .315 (23-73) and Jake Benoit .299 (23-77) including 10 Steals all contributed to the Panther offense. 

In split time with the SCP 2017 team; Cameran Brantley hit .336 (36-107) with 30 RBIs and 34 Runs Scored. Cameran Walked 31 times helping achieve a .500 On Base Average. Owen White had 33 Hits including 13 Extra Base Hits and Scored 23 Runs. 

On the mound the Junior Cats had a Team ERA of 1.88 while Striking Out 264 in 248 Innings Pitched.

Rohan Handa (9-1) Won 9 Games; Pitching 43.2 Innings; Striking Out 34 with a 1.78 ERA. Ro has his eyes on the SCP Single Season Wins Record of 12 this fall.

Cameron Prugh in split time with the SCP 2017s finished the summer (5-0) with 5 Saves Saves. Cam Struck Out 36 with only 8 Walks in 45 Innings Pitched. Jaylen Guy (4-2) Struck Out 31 in 37.2 Innings Pitched. Clayton Gilmore (4-1) Struck Out 25 in 27 IP; and had a team leading 0.269 ERA. Reed Hedberg (2-0) and a team leading 5 Saves Struck Out 27 in 24.2 IP.

Maddux Holshouser (4-0) with a 1.77 ERA; Jake Benoit (2-0) 2 Saves and 26 Strike Outs in 23 IP and Trey Tujetsch (2-1) with 17K in 22 IP all contributed to the SCP pitching. Owen White went 2-0 with 2 Saves while Striking Out 30 in 23 IP.

SCP 2017 Summer Recap

SOUTH CHARLOTTE PANTHERS 2017 / 17U  -  SUMMER RECAP  (29-3-2)

The SCP 2017 completed their summer season with a 29-3-2 record including a Runner Up Finish in the 384 team Perfect Game World Wood Bat National 17U Championship. The .882 Winning % Ranks the 2017s as the All Time Highest Win % season record. 

The Panthers will begin their fall season on September 10 and play in five events to wrap up their 2016 season. 

Offensively the Cats finished the summer with a .365 Team Average; Scoring 256 Runs for a 7.5 Runs per Game Average.

The offense was led by 1B Alec Burleson who hit .462 (43-93) including 12 Doubles; a HR and Driving in 30 Runs while scoring 25. 2B Callen Nuccio hit .415 (34-82) and scored 33 Runs and Stole 16 Bases while Walking 16 times for a .510 On Base Average. C Nate Kinsch hit. 375 (30-80) with 7 Extra Base Hits while Driving in 21 Runs and scoring 28. C Drew Donathan came on like a storm after a slow start finishing the summer hitting . 362 (21-58) with 13 Doubles and a HR with 20 RBIs. CF Justin Guy hit .382 (44-115) with 33 Runs Scored and 39 Stolen Bases. LF Cameran Brantley hit .336 (36-107) Driving in 30 Runs and scoring a team leading 34 Runs. Cam walked 31 times to give him a .500 On Base Average. SS Owen White had 31 Hits including 13 Extra Base Hits and scored 23 Runs. IF Satchel Jerzembeck drove in 17 Runs and Scored 15. RF Matthew Stevens hit .321 (17-53) with 6 Extra Base Hits and IF Austin Love hit .328 (22-67) with 7 Extra Base Hits and drove in 14. Nick Roser hit .386 (17-44) and Cameron Roberts contributed hitting .619 (13-21).

On the Mound the Cat pitchers had a Team 1.84 Earned Run Average and Struck Out 227 hitters in 234 Innings Pitched.

James Decker (7-0) was named the Most Valuable Pitcher at the PG WWBA 17U. James finished the summer with a 1.88 ERA; Striking out 26 in 28 IP. Nick Swiney (3-1) 1SV had a team leading 1.28 ERA and has Struck out 53 in 28 IP. Austin Love finished the summer 4-0 with 29 Strike Outs in 24 IP. Cameron Roberts (2-0) 1 SV Struck out 25 in 23 IP. Alec Burleson Struck out 24 in 23 IP and finished with a 2.34 ERA. Steven Russell finished the summer 2-0 with a Save in 18 IP. Nick Roser finished 2-0 as well with an ERA of 3.00. Owen White (2-0) 2SV had 30 Strike Outs in 23 IP and an ERA of 2.63. Conner VanCleave arrived like Dorthy in the Wizard of Oz from Kansas and contributed in a number of ways including a .392 (20-51) Batting Average with 5 Doubles and 11 RBIs while on the mound he was 2-0 with a 2.79 ERA before the Great and Powerful Oz sent him back to the praire.

Satchel Jerzembeck to North Carolina

SATCHEL JERZEMBECK SIGNS WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA

SCP 2017 SATCHEL JERZEMBECK - Providence High School has signed his National Letter of Intent to attend college and play baseball at the UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA. Satchel will join the Tar Heels following his career at Providence High School and with the Panthers.

Congratulations to Satchel; his parents Mike and Alison; brothers Isaac and Elijah.

Ray Torres to LSU

RAY TORRES COMMITS TO LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY

SCP 2019 RAY TORRES - Providence High School has committed to attend college and play baseball at LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY. Ray will join the Bengal Tigers following his career at Providence and with the South Charlotte Panthers.

Congratulations to Ray; his parents Ray and Gloria; sister Emma.

Panthers WWBA 17U Runner Up

PERFECT GAME WORLD WOOD BAT 17U CHAMPIONSHIPS - RUNNER UP

The SCP 2017s made a strong run to a Runner Up finish at the Perfect Game WWBA 17U National Championship.

After winning their pool with a 6-0-1 record the Cats went on a 5 game win streak in championship play to the finals versus Florida Travel Baseball.

The team compiled a .342 Batting Average with 104 Hits in 304 At Bats. Drew Donathan led the hitters going 11 for 25 (.440) with 6 doubles; a HR and 7 RBIs. Alec Burleson went 14 for 34 (.412) with 3 doubles and 7 RBIs; Conner VanCleave 12 for 30 (.400) with 4 doubles and 7 RBIs.

Nate Kinsch went 10 for 29 (.345) with 7 RBIs. Owen White 11 for 32 with 2 doubles; a triple and 6 Runs Scored. Justin Guy stole 8 bases for the tournament. Callen Nuccio went 8 for 21 (.381) and scored 11 Runs.  

James Decker was selected the Most Valuable Pitcher for the 2016 WWBA 16U. James won 2 games; pitching 8.2 innings; striking out 8 with an ERA of .808.

Alec Burleson pitched 9 innings with a Win. Struck out 5 and finished with an ERA of 1.55. Nick Swiney had 16 strike outs in 7.2 innings pitched; gave up only 2 hits and finished with an ERA of .913.

Austin Love had a Win and a Save. Cameron Prugh gave up 1 hit in 4.2 innings pitched and earned 2 Saves.Cameron Roberts and Conner VanCleave each had Wins as well. Conner's a complete game shutout. Owen White struck out 6 and earned a Save in the quarter finals victory.

The team had a 1.52 ERA and struck out 71 in 73 innings pitched.
