GENERAL INFORMATION

Newton Central Little League (NCLL) is open to all children who live in the Cabot, Peirce or Ward elementary school districts and are eligible (see table above).  Any child wishing to play in the NCLL from outside the district must provide a waiver from the district he/she currently resides in before consideration is given.

There are several different leagues within the NCLL: T-Ball, Farm, AA, AAA, and Majors.  The league your child will play in is determined by their age as well as tryouts (for older children only).  Tryouts are intended to ensure that children play at the level that is most suoitable for their skill level, where they will be challenged, learn skills, and have the most fun; as well as to attempt to balance teams.

PLEASE SEE CHART ABOVE FOR LEAGUE AGE CALCULATION

Season begins after April spring break (Majors practices start earlier)

and continues through the end of the school year

EXACT DAYS FOR GAMES AND PRACTICES WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN LATE APRIL

T-BALL LEAGUE: for all 4, 5 and 6 year olds who are not yet in first grade.  All players MUST be at least age 4 by April 30, 2012.  NO EXCEPTIONS!  There is one event per week, which is a practice followed by a game.  Could be one of two time slots: 1:00 - 2:30 or 3:00 - 4:30.  All events are on Sundays.  Season begins late April and runs through early June.

FARM LEAGUE: For all 1st and grade through league age 8 year olds.  This is a coach pitch instructional league.  There are two levels of play: rookie and farm.  All first graders and some second graders will play on rookie teams.  Farm level is for second graders and some beginning 9 year olds as well.  Typically 2 games per week, one Sunday (always 1PM or later) and one weekday.  Coaches have the option to add a practice to the schedule as well.

MINOR LEAGUES (AA AND AAA): ALL PLAYERS IN 3RD GRADE AND HIGHER MUST ATTEND TRYOUTS FOR PLACEMENT.  Not all 3rd grade 8's and 9 year olds are placed on minors teams; some will benefit (and have more fun!) from the instructional farm system.  NOTE: League age 8 year olds in 3rd grade must try out for Minors.  Please register as a 7/8 year old and indicate you will be trying out.

AA minors is where players begn to pitch.  There are typically 2 games per week; one Sunday (always after 1PM) and one weekday, and one practice day.  Occasionally there will be two weekday games.  Coaches have the option to add a saturday practice as well.

AAA is a more competitive & advanced league with rules similar to Majors.  There are typically 2 games per week; one Sunday (always after 1PM) and one weekday, and one practice day.  Occasionally there will be two weekday games.  Coaches have the option to add a saturday practice as well.

MAJORS LEAGUE: All league age 11 and 12 players MUST try out to determine placement on either AAA or be drafted by a Major league team.  The Majors are the most advanced league in the Little league.  No tryout is necessary for any player returning to a Major League team from the 2010 spring season.
NOTE 1: Playing on a major league team in the summer or fall leagues does NOT qualify and tryouts will be necessary.  NOt sure of your child's status?  Please email info@NewtonCentral.org we will help.
NOTE 2: Little League International has determined that ALL 12 year old players will be in the majors.  Hoever, not all 12's will have a positive experience at that level, as the competition is very tough and play time may be minimal for the less skilled players.  A 12 year old may opt to play AAA in that case; and will have a far more enjoyable experience.  Please contact NCLL if you decide your child would be better off in AAA.

SPRING SEASON TEAM ASSIGNMENTS

T-BALL LEAGUE: Teams will be formed based on elementary schools as best we can.  Games will be on Sundays ONLY.  Details above.

FARM LEAGUE: This league is formed with regard to elementary school as much as possible.  We are happy to try and place players on a team with ONE FRIEND and one friend only as long as your registration is received no later than January 29.  Please identify your child's friend on your registration form.  Your child's friend must also identify your child as a friend on their registration form.  We cannot honor requests with more than one friend - we are, after all, volunteers and forming teams is challenging enough.  Thank you for your understanding!
