Congratulation to our HAWKS!!!

 2010 Hawks show success at all levels

Results:

·        Varsity:  PCL 7-8 / Overall  12-13 (Tied for 2nd place)

·        JV: PCL 10-5 / Overall 11-8 (League Champions)

·        Frosh/Soph: PCL 12-3 / Overall 15-4 (League Champions)

 

*Saturday, March 20 - Setting the tone for 2010-11 Sea View League. JV and Frosh/Soph win vs. Mission Viejo. 

*Friday, March 19 - Pacific Coast League Opener sucess at all levels.  Varsity, JV, and Frosh/Soph all win vs. University.

*Friday, March 5 - Newport Elks Tournament Begins. Check News for more details.   

*Monday, Feb 22 - 2010 Rosters / Schedules have been posted.

*Wednesday, May 21 - HAWKS FALL TO PARAMOUNT H.S. 3-1 in Round #2 of CIF Playoffs: ROAD TO CIF CHAMPIONSHIP ENDS AT BLAIR FIELD IN LONG BEACH (See Game Story on "NEWS" Page);  2008 Season Comes to Close with an overall record of 22W - 8L. 
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:  CHANGE OF VENUE  CIF PLAYOFFS - ROUND #2: HAWKS PLAY AT BLAIR FIELD IN LONG BEACH
*Monday, May 19 - CHANGE OF VENUE  CIF PLAYOFFS - ROUND #2: HAWKS PLAY AT BLAIR FIELD IN LONG BEACH vs. PARAMOUNT H.S. PIRATES for the Second Round of CIF Playoffs to be played on TUESDAY, MAY 20.  Game Time is 3:15 PM *Thursday, May 15 - CIF PLAYOFFS - ROUND #1: HAWKS Shutout Rancho Alamitos 9-0 and advance to Round #2 on Tuesday, May 20 vs. PARAMOUNT which defeated Rowland H.S.  The Tournament Bracket can be downloaded on the "Handouts" Page.
*Monday, May 12 - CIF PLAYOFFS - ROUND #1: HAWKS Play RANCHO ALAMITOS (2nd Place Team from the Garden Grove League) at Laguna Hills High School on Thursday May 15 @ 3:15PM. 
*Thursday, May 8 - HAWKS WIN!, HAWKS WIN!, HAWKS WIN!  Hawks come back again from a 3-0 deficit vs. University to win the 2008 PCL League Championship outright. See GAME PHOTOS on "NEWS" Page. Final score: 6-5.  Robert Refsnyder goes 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 rbi's; Dylan Tendler goes 2-for-3 and drives in the tieing run; Jeff West gets the game winning RBI, Ryan Wertenberger pitches complete game. Hawks score 1 in the 3rd, 3 in the 5th, 1 in the 6th to tie the score, and 1 in the 7th to take the lead and hold on for the victory! Final Varsity Regular Season Record  is 21-7 (Final League Record is 10-2).
****FIRST ROUND CIF PLAYOFF GAME TO BE PLAYED ON THURSDAY, MAY 15.****  
*Wednesday, May 7 - JEFF RAUH and KYLE HARRISON Picked To Play In the 2008 Orange County ALL STAR GAME for the South Team. Game to be played at Glover Stadium on June 3.  For complete rosters go to:

*Wednesday, May 7 - CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SENIORS (CLASS OF 2008). Members of the Class of 2008 finish their regular season careers with 4 consecutive league championships: 2005 Freshmen Sea View League Champs; 2006 JV Sea View League Champs; 2007 Varsity and JV Pacific Coast League Champs; 2008 Varsity Pacific Coast League Champions! The 2008 Hawks Senior Class include (in alphabetical order): Matt Boyd, Neil Eisler, Kyle Harrison, Dan Keene, John Lamb, Matt Lauderdale, Jack Michelman, Royce Mohler, Jeff Rauh, Dylan Tendler, Ryan Wertenberger, Jeff West, and Justin White.  As always, GO HAWKS!!
*Wednesday, May 7 - Varsity, JV and Frosh/Soph Teams are all 2008 Pacific Coast League Champions. Laguna Hills High School Baseball is deep in talent and the future looks bright!
*Tuesday, May 6 - Hawks Clinch Tie for Pacific Coast League Championship!  8-3 Victory over University Sets Up Showdown in Final Game of the Regular Season against University for Sole Possession of the League Crown and a First Place seed in the CIF Post-Season Tournament! Hawks come back from 3-0 deficit with 3 runs in the fourth, 1 run in the fifth and 4 insurance runs in the sixth.  Jeff Rauh goes the distance for the win and improves his record to a stellar 13-0.  Kyle Harrison hits his 5th homerun to start the Hawk comeback and adds a 2 run double.  Matt Giovinazzo hits his 3rd homerun.  Overall Varsity Record now 20-7 (League Record now 9-2).
*Monday, May 5 - Pitcher Jeff Rauh is nominated for Orange County Player of the Year - Fans get to vote on OCVarsity.com
*Saturday, May 3 - Pacific Coast League Title Up For Grabs: Hawks In Tie for First Place with University. Teams play each other in the final 2 games of the regular season in a home-and-away series on Tuesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 8. 2008
*Friday, May 2 - Hawks Complete Sweep of Irvine 6-1. Hawks break open 1-1 tie with 2 runs in the sixth on a triple by Jeff West, and 3 insurance runs in the seventh.  Wertenberger pitches complete game.  Overall Varsity Record now 19-7 (League Record now 8-2).
*Friday, May 2 - Hawks vs Irvine to be televised as the "COX3 GAME OF THE WEEK".  Broadcast schedule see:

*Tuesday, April 29 - Hawks Defeat Irvine 5-2. Hawks explode in fifth inning with 3 doubles and 5 hits. Jeff Rauh notches 12th Win. Three regular season games remaining. Overall Varsity Record now 18-7 (League Record now 7-2).

****Saturday, April 26 - FUN HAD BY ALL AT LHHS ATHLETIC BOOSTERS SOCIAL, DINNER and AUCTION. BARGAINS GALORE RAISE NEEDED FUNDS FOR ALL HAWKS ATHLETICS!  *Friday, April 25 - Hawks clipped by University 2-0. Hawks fall 1/2 game out of first place in League behind Uni. Hawks' suffer their second shutout in last 4 games. Overall Varsity Record now 17-7 (League Record now 6-2).
*Monday, April 21 - Hawks drown CdM Sea Kings with 11-4 victory. Hawks sweep 3 game season series versus Corona del Mar. Offense racks up 11 runs for second game in a row; Jeff Rauh remains undefeated with 11-0 record; Kyle Harrison hits his 4th round tripper; Jack Michelman bangs out 2 doubles. Overall Varsity Record now 17-6 (League Record now 6-1).
*Saturday, April 19 - Hawks split doubleheader with Yucaipa: Lose opener 3-0, and bounce back in game #2 with 11-3 victory. Hawks shut out on one-hitter in opener. Bats come alive in game #2 with 11 rbi's on 11 hits. Overall Varsity Record now 16-6.
*Thursday, April 17 - Hawks add doubleheader to Schedule and will play the tough Yucaipa H.S. Thunderbirds on Saturday, April 19.  Game to be played at Yucaipa High School. Thunderbirds are ranked No. 3 in Division II in most recent CIF Coaches Poll.
*Tuesday, April 15 - Hawks Win Season Series over Beckman with a 5-1 Victory. Hawks use all phases of the game: pitching, power, baserunning and defense to beat Beckman.  Rauh earns 10th win. Refsnyder hits his second homerun. Varsity League Record: 5-1; Overall Record now 15-5.
*Friday, April 11 - Beckman Breaks Hawks League Winning Streak with a 9-0 Loss. JV and Frosh/Soph Hawks Win. Defensive lapses hurt Hawks who are also shutout for the first time this Season. Varsity Overall Record now 14-5.
*Tuesday, April 8 - Hawks Shutdown Beckman 4-0 on the "COX3 GAME OF THE WEEK".  Jeff Rauh pitches second consecutive shutout. Varsity Overall Record now 14-4.  Broadcast schedule see:

*Friday, April 4 - Hawks Sweep Corona del Mar: Varsity 6-0, JV 13-4; Frosh/Soph 6-3. Jeff Rauh records the shutout.  Harrison goes deep (No.3). Varsity Overall Record now 13-4.
*Wednesday, March 26 - Hawks Finish Lions Tournament with victory over Long Beach Milliken 5-2. Jeff Rauh keeps Rams in check, Robert Refsnyder hits his first homerun. Hawks finish Lions Tournament with a 4-1 record. Overall Record now 12-4.
*Tuesday, March 25 - Hawks Pounce on Gahr 15-0. Offense hits like it's batting practice and supports dominating pitching performance by Ryan Wertenberger. Record now 11-4.
*Monday, March 24 -Hawks Split Doubleheader:  Comeback Falls Short vs. Chaminade 7-6;  Hawks Make Quick Work of Western 7-2. Dylan Tendler goes 3 for 3 vs Chaminade; Robert Refsnyder goes 4 for 4 vs Western.  Matt Giovinazzo hits his second homerun. Matt Boyd pitches complete game victory over Western.  Record now 10-4.
*Saturday, March 22 -Hawks Bomb Temescal Canyon in Lions Tournament Opener 18-5. Kyle Harrison hits two homeruns and a double to lead the Hawks in their largest offensive output in at least 3 years.  Next opponents include: Chaminade, Western and Gahr. Record now 9-3.

*Friday, March 21 - Hawks sweep Irvine at all levels. Varsity takes advantage of Irvine miscues 3-2. Hawks pitching remains strong. Record now 8-3 
*Wednesday, March 19 - Next Game vs No. 3 ranked Irvine on Fri. March 21.  Lions Tournament to follow with 5 games in 5 days.  Combined, Hawks to play 6 games in 6 days.  Team depth will be tested.
*Monday, March 17 - Pacific Coast League Play Opens with victories by Varsity, JV and Frosh/Soph over Corona del Mar: Varsity pitches by committee and shuts down the SeaKings 8-1 with the support of a 4 run first inning. Varsity record now 7-3. 
*Saturday, March 15 - PCL League Opener versus Corona del Mar set for Monday 3/17 at LHHS, Hawks aim to continue 9 game league winning streak from the 2007 Season.
*Friday, March 14 - Hawks sweep Long Beach Jordan 7-0 and 6-0, Pitching dominates with 2 shutouts allowing a total of only 2 hits in the doubleheader. Record now 6-3.
*Monday, March 10 - Hawks drop a pair to Katella 9-8 and 2-1, Katella drives in the winning runs in the bottom of the 7th of both games of the doubleheader. Record now 4-3.
*Saturday, March 8 - Hawks return to win column with victory over La Serna (Whittier), Record improves to 4-1; Hawks complete Elks Tournament with a 4-1 record.
*Thursday, March 6 - Hawks fall to Brea-Olinda 2-1, First defeat of the '08 Season; Record now 3-1
*Wednesday, March 5 - Hawks (3Wins -0 Losses) seeded second in Pool C of Foothill Bracket of Elks Tournament - Next games: Hawks at Brea-Olinda (2-1) on Thurs, Mar. 6, and La Serna (2-1) at Laguna Hills on Saturday, March 8.
*Tuesday, March 4 - Hawks defeat Warren H.S. of Downey 9-6, Team starts season 3-0
*Saturday March 1 - Hawks defeat Fullerton 8-2 , Offense pounds out 11 hits
*Friday February 29 - Hawks defeat LaQuinta 2-0, Rauh throws one-hitter

PRE-SEASON PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS:
* (Feb. 6, 2008) - Hawks' John Lamb ('08) has been selected to play as a member of the North (Blue) Roster in the Southland Major League Scouts Invitational Showcase to be played at the Urban Youth Academy on Sunday, February 10, at 1PM.  Complete rosters can be found at:  
http://www.baseballresource.com/hs/2008/feb/MLBSB_rosters.pdf  * (Feb. 6, 2008) - Hawks' Robert Refsnyder ('09) was selected last Summer to the 2007 USA Baseball Junior Olympic Youth National Team.  Robert was one of 18 players selected nationwide to represent Team USA in the 16U World Youth Championship Tournament in Venezuela against teams from Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Columbia, and Cuba.  Team USA went undefeated and won the Gold!
* (Feb. 6, 2008) - Hawks' Jeff Rauh ('08) has signed a Letter of Intent to play for University of California at San Diego.
