DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis Aggies baseball team has announced that Hawks senior Josh Leite has signed a National Letter of Intent during the recent early signing period and will join the Aggies next fall.  The UC Davis baseball program is currently in its third year of a four-year reclassification to NCAA Division I status. UC Davis officially joins the Big West Conference for the 2007-08 academic year. Leite joins Alex Diachenko from Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, and Jeff Hann of Fountain Valley High School as early signees with UC Davis. "We are excited about the three student-athletes we have signed thus far," said head coach Rex Peters. "All are outstanding individuals that will fit our program exceptionally well. They all understand the academic opportunity that UC Davis presents, and each should play a major role in our development as a Division I program in the Big West."

"Joshua is an outstanding athlete who will help us both as an outfielder and on the mound as a much needed left-handed pitcher," said Peters.

Leite carries 3.9 GPA and was an All-Sea View League honorable mention selection last season and batted a team-best .315 with 10 RBI's, 13 runs and a .425 on-base percentage. He also stole seven bases. As a pitcher, he posted a 2-0 record in 31.0 innings, struck out 26 batters and had a 1.86 ERA.

The HAWKS brought their bats to life v Woodbridge. Offensively the HAWKS pounded out 11 hits. Travis Easton, Scott Kohlmann, Sean Pellerin, and Marc Schroeder led the way offensively for the HAWKS. Each contributed at least two hits. Schroeder gave the HAWKS the lead in the 5th when he powered a two run Home Run to right center through a very stiff breeze. Travis Easton continued to sparkle on the mound as he tossed his third consecutive complete game to record the victory. Tony Kerr and Tim Cram played excellent defence behind Travis. The HAWKS will look to take the season series v Woodbridge on Friday. The game will be played at Windrow Park at 7:00 PM.
