The Empire Football League is proud to announce the Quebec Titans as their 2008 EFL Champions. Quebec won their Empire Football League title Saturday night over the defending champion Vermont Ice Storm 12-10. The EFL has had Canadian teams as league members since 1990 and would like to note that this is the first time that any Canadian team won the EFL’s League Championship. The Quebec Titans finished the season with an overall record of 11 wins and one loss.  Their only loss was to Vermont 21-14 during the regular season.

As a result of inquiries from several organizations during the current season, the Empire Football League is looking forward to celebrating its 40th Anniversary Season in 2009 by adding several new teams.

(PRWEB) October 17, 2007 -- The Empire Football League is proud to announce the Vermont Ice Storm as its 2007 EFL Champions. Vermont won their Empire Football League title Saturday over the Watertown Red & Black in one the the most exciting EFL Championship Games in recent years.

The Ice Storm defeated the Watertown Red & Black by the unusual score of 9-8 to complete a 15-0 season and secure the Empire Football League Championship. The Ice Storm led 3-0 until a fumbled punt return led to a Watertown score that made it 8-3 with four minutes left. The team drove 66 yards downfield and scored the game-winning touchdown with four seconds left on a 4-yard Brad Ruderman pass to Rob Joy.

The Empire Football League formally concluded its regular season schedule on October 4th.  The playoff format includes the top 4 teams and playoffs are scheduled to start October 11th. However, due to a tie for 4th place between Amsterdam and Ottawa, and the fact that their game was called due to bad weather on July 26th, the league determined that it was crucial to finish this game to fairly determine the 4th place team. As a result, Amsterdam and Ottawa will complete this game on October 11th while Quebec hosts Plattsburgh in the 1st round of the playoffs.

The Empire Football League Championship on October 25th will be hosted by the highest ranking division winner.

The playoff scenario detail is as follows:
October 11th
-         Quebec hosts Plattsburgh
-         Amsterdam hosts Ottawa to finish the July 26th game
October 18th
-         Vermont hosts winner of the October 11th Amsterdam vs. Ottawa game
-         Winner of the Quebec vs Plattsburgh game gets a bye
October 25th EFL Championship – Hosted by highest ranking winner of the October 18th games
