We had a good weekend and lost to our nemesis, the Esprit.  But, despite the heat and the crazy stuff going on among the teams, we managed to get in some good games, got some good pitching, timely hitting, and had another good tournament finish.

ASA Diamond Cat Mother’s Day Tribute – Record 5 – 1 – 0

1^st place out of 4 teams – 14U

In our own tournament, we played up at 14U, and played well against the older teams.  It was our first championship for the team outdoors on a real field, and the girls worked together to pull it off.  We outscored our opponents 28 – 10 and our pitching was excellent.

We played 14U this weekend and pitched at 43’ for the first time.  The girls did great, especially considering we played this weekend without 2 of our 3 catchers, and lost our 3^rd catcher to an injury in the semifinals.  We also lost a pitcher to a back injury, and had to use a pickup player to play the final two games.

CBSA League Championship – Record 15 – 0 – 2

1^st place out of 15 teams – 12U

We entered the league championship tournament with a record of 8 – 0 – 2.  Our two ties were games that we wished we could have had back, but since we beat those teams easily in other games against them, we just used them for learning experiences.  Below are the scores of the regular league games that were used to seed us into the league tournament, and then the scores of the tournament games.  We were seeded 1^st, and the girls came in and played like the dominant #1 seed that they were!  The reward for a great season was that Chesterfield paid our Nationals fee.  What a great way for the girls to end the league!

What an amazing week!  The girls played so well, and even with our two losses, we were in the games until the end.  We got great pitching, good defense, and timely hitting.  We had not beaten the Esprit (Federhofer) all year, and we get to the championship game needing to win twice…and we did it.  I will take losing to them all year to getting those wins at the end when the whole season is on the line.  It was a hot, grueling week, but the girls were amazing and just NEVER gave up and always BELIEVED they could do it.  Great job, Cats!
