News and Announcements

Amy Joe Birklid has joined the BULLDOG Diamond Sports Training Center instructor staff leading our new Speed, Agility and Conditioning program, camps and clinics.

As a 2005 Cum Laude graduate of Eastern Washington University, Amy graduated at the top of her major class with a Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Science.  While a student, Amy was also a three sport athlete excelling at Track and Field, Cross Country, and Steeple chase.

Following graduation, Amy founded “PHD”, a speed training and consultant company through which she has trained a full spectrum of athletes including Division I NCAA football players, the Orting High School Baseball Team, and youth programs such as: Tournament Indoor Sports Plateau Players Academy and Mount Rainier Football Club.

Amy’s training emphasizes highly intensive workouts designed to improve overall conditioning while focusing on Speed, Power, Agility, and Strength.  Students are tracked and monitored on their improvement in power, quickness, explosiveness, and overall speed.  Baseball and fast-pitch teams and players receive sport specific instruction to improve base running, getting out of the box quickly and reacting to batted balls.

Amy’s training philosophy is to blend safety and fun with intense workouts and cutting edge training techniques. She encourages feedback from coaches and students to help improve instruction and ensure that we are meeting the individual needs of each athlete.

BULLDOG TRAINING TESTEMONIALS

Posted by Nevin Garthwaite at Oct 29, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

I had the opportunity to watch the first infield clinic this past Sunday night, and I was very impressed. Tim and Jay are fantastic with the players and they are teaching them fundamental skills that will take them to the next level of play.

I continue to be thankful that you opened this wonderful facility and brought your coaching team to Sumner...... we sure love having it in our backyard.

For many years, the BULLDOGS have been known as THE place to get the best possible training for young players.  Our instructors have that rare combination of expert knowledge, and the ability to communicate that knowledge to young players in a fun and exciting training experience!

Our fall training camps will be starting November 15th and 17th.  These are the same BULLDOG camps and training that everyone talks about.  Over the last 7 years we have trained over 2000 young players and helped them to excel.

Today, that training is even better because it is conducted in our NEW facility with nearly 20,000 square feet of training area, located just off Hwy 167 on 24th Street East, about 3 and a half miles south of the Auburn Super Mall.   Believe it or not, our new training center is easier to get to, from most of the Kent/Covington area, via Hwy 18, than it is to get to downtown Kent.

One of the best features of the new training center is a full infield that is completely netted to allow for REAL GAME situation training and there are no posts anywhere in the entire facility!  No other training location in the NW has an infield like this.

We are also opening an equipment and NIKE team uniform shop where you will be able to pick up the brand name gear you need at prices that are far less than the baseball "superstores".

To get authentic BULLDOG training, sign up for BULLDOG camps at the BULLDOG Diamond Sports Training Center.

Anything less is, well…..  Just less!!

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION AVAILABLE

Posted by Nevin Garthwaite at Sep 14, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION AVIALABLE WITH OUR PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTORS:

Tim Bartlett:  206-619-1611

Jay Garthwaite: 253-350-9932

Or call the training center @ 253-987-5082

Beginning with the 2008 fall season, Tim Bartlett has accepted the postion of Defensive Training Coordinator and Instructor.  Tim has over 29 years of baseball coaching and managing experience from High School to nationally ranked select teams.

From 2003 to 2007 Tim served as the infield coach for the Kentwood High School Baseball Team during which the team made four consecutive trips to the State High School Playoffs including 2 “Final Four” appearances.

Tim is well know at the national level as the founder of the Cannons Baseball Club and manager of the 2003 and 2004 Cannons Baseball teams who won the Washington State Championship both years, and in 2004, won the CABA National Championship Tournament in Dublin Ohio.   As a manager, who has actual experience winning state and national baseball championships, Tim is in a unique position to understand what is required to compete at these levels and more than qualified to teach those skills to young players.

Since 2006, Tim has provided advanced infield training for many of the top youth players in our area through his Gold Glove Infield Camps.  Many of the players, Tim coached, have gone on to play at the college and professional levels.

For the past two years, the Cannons and Bulldogs have worked together on training and facilities.  Both years, Tim provided infield training for all Bulldog teams and the Cannons utilized the Bulldog indoor training facility for hitting practice during the fall and winter.  This affiliation will continue, at the new Bulldog facility.

When the new Training Center opens, this September, Tim Bartlett will be available to provide advanced individual and team instruction in all areas of the game with an emphasis on infield skills and hitting.  He will also coordinate and manage infield training camps each quarter.

The addition of Tim, to lead our defensive training program, is a great step forward toward building the most experienced and successful youth baseball training program in the Puget Sound area.
