The PCS Penguins completed an undefeated season and defeated Cranbrook by a score of 5-2. It was a very exciting well played game by both teams. Kristie Kowalski was outstanding in net during the playoffs, recording two shut-outs, and Katie Zimmerman added a hatrick in the championship. It was a total TEAM effort. Congratulations Penguins. image

North ties PCS and loses close one to Ladywood

Wednesday February 7, 2007 North vs. Ladywood at Hazel Park. After a scoreless first period against the top team from Ladywood, the team gave up two goals in the second period and did not play their best hockey. However, the determined Norsemen squad came out in the third period and turned it around. At the 10 minute mark, senior Phelicia V. #22 one timed a nice pass from Alexa Q. #3 to only be down by one. Then, with only 1:11 to play in the game, senior Marissa L. #10 found the puck in a scrambled play in front of the net and tied the game at two goals apiece. However, the Blazers top player, Prenella S. #18, flipped a wrist shot at the net and the puck found it's way past a screened Norsemen goaltender with only 37 seconds remaining in the game. A heartbreaker to say the least. Next up for the team is Ann Arbor. Saturday February 3, 2007 North vs. PCS at Hazel Park. A strong defensive effort, great goaltending, and too many penalties was the story for the Lady Norsemen against the league leading Plymouth-Canton-Salem Peguins. Freshman goalie Tori B. #30 turned out her performance of the season thus far. She made a number of outstanding saves. Tori had help in front of her as well, the Norsemen became the only team this season to shutout the top notch offense of the unified team. The Norsemen had many opportunities to score, unfortunately penalties and a solid goaltending effort thwarted the offense. After 45 minutes of regulation play and an overtime period, the game ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Great effort ladies!
