2004-05 League and Pick-up Information

CITY OF CLEVELAND HEIGHTS DIVISION OF PARKS AND RECREATION 2004- 2005 CLEVELAND HEIGHTS SENIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE
LEAGUE PLAY: Open to Intermediate and Advanced Players who are at least 22 years of age by December 31, 2004. Determination of skill level (Novice, Intermediate or Advanced) will be made by the Senior Hockey Committee (Paul Tomann 216-990-5251, Bob Warshawsky 216-831-0733 and Mike Moore 440-585-4113). Plans are for a total of eight to ten teams, in two divisions, based upon skill level. The A Division is for A and B players, while the B Division is for B and C players. While B players may play in either division, no player may play in both divisions. Each team will have from 11 to 13 skaters, plus a goalie. Each team will play approximately 24 regular season games, plus playoffs. Each team will play generally once per week on either Monday (9:30 or 10:15 pm), Tuesday (10:30 pm) or Wednesday (9:45 or 10:00 pm), although it is possible that a team will occasionally play two games in a given week. The determination of how many teams there will be and the start of the regular season depend entirely upon players signing up promptly. All players (including those who played last year) who do not sign up by September 15 risk being excluded from the league. We would like to announce the schedule in early September and start the regular season on September 20. Helmets and HECC-approved face masks or half shields are required. The first five sessions, devoted to evaluations of new players and practice for all players, are as follows:
  • Monday, August 30 at 9:00 PM - South Rink
  • Wednesday, September 1 at 9:00 PM - South Rink
  • Monday, September 6 - Rink Closed - Labor Day
  • Wednesday, September 8 at 9:00 PM - South Rink
  • Monday, September 13 at 9:30 PM - South Rink
  • Wednesday, September 15 at 9:45 PM - South Rink
LEAGUE FEE (Made Payable to: "Cleveland Heights Senior Hockey League"):
  • New players who did not play in the League last season - $200.00
  • Returning players who were in the League last season - $175.00
Each League player must also pay the appropriate Ice Fee to the City of Cleveland Heights, as shown in the “Ice Fees” table in the Pick-Up Hockey section, below. PICK-UP HOCKEY: Open to Novice, Intermediate and Advanced players who are at least 18 years of age by December 31, 2004. Helmets are required; face masks or half shields are strongly recommended. There are two separate sessions available:
  • Sundays at 10:00 pm - North Rink - Beginning Sunday, September 12, 2004
  • Thursdays at 9:45 pm - North Rink - Beginning Thursday, September 16, 2004
ICE FEES (Made Payable to: "City of Cleveland Heights"): One Pick-Up Session or League

  • Non-Resident - $120.00
Both Pick-Up Sessions or League & Pick-Up
  • Resident - $135.00
  • Non-Resident - $230.00

The Cleveland Heights Adult Hockey program is continued and expanded this year, with both pickup and league hockey available for players of different skill levels. The preliminary schedule (as of June 7, 2004) is as follows:
  • Pickup hockey (18 and over):
    • Sunday 10:00-11:30 pm North Rink
    • Thursday 9:30-11:00 pm North Rink
  • League hockey (22 and over, at least C player level):
    • Monday 9:45-11:15 pm South Rink and 10:15-11:45 pm North Rink
    • Tuesday 10:15-11:45 South Rink
    • Wednesday 9:30-11:00 pm South Rink and 10:00-11:30 pm North Rink
The league plans to have two divisions of four teams each this year, an A Division and a B Division. The A Division is open only to A and B players, and the B Division is open only to B and C players. Both Divisions will be playing on Monday and Wednesday, so no one can play in both Divisions. B players will be permitted to indicate a preference as to which Division they want to play in, but the League Coordinators will make the final determination of the skill level and Division of each player. Registration: Registration will take place by mail or through the League Coordinators. Forms must be completed, signed and fees paid in full. Returning players should receive forms in the mail by early August. Interested persons can pick up forms at the Community Center. For answers to questions about Adult Hockey, contact Paul Tomann (evenings 216.381.1314 or cellular 216.990.5251) or Bob Warshawsky (216.831.0733 x175). Required Equipment: Approved hockey helmet with either full face mask or half shield is required for all participants in pickup and league hockey. Full pads are suggested. image

Congratulations to Maroon! 03-04 League champs

Posted by Kelly Ross at Apr 18, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Congratulations to the Maroon team. They defeated Navy 3 games to 0 to take the league championship! After losing in their first game, Maroon eliminated White, Green, Red and Blue to reach the finals. In the 3rd game of the championship round, Maroon had only 5 skaters available due to injuries and schedule conflicts. John Manzatt, Andy Senkovich, Karl Kleinert, Mike O'Callaghan and Mike Rutledge, along with goalie Jesse Wainright, each played the entire 45 minutes in defeating Navy 13-4.imageimage
