MHSAA High School Rules The Western Suburban Junior Football League, which we belong to, operates under Michigan High School Athletic Association rules, except for some special rules which override or clarify the MHSAA rules. Games The length of the quarters for all games at all levels are 10 minutes. Game balls are Wilson TDJ for Freshman and Junior Varsity, and TDY for Varsity. Freshman games have 4 time outs per half. All others are 3 time outs per half. Extra Points after touchdowns are 2 points for kicks and 1 point for runs. 18 Point Rule If a team is leading anytime in a game by 18 or more points, it must sit its 8 best players. The opposing coach has the right to determine which 8 players sit. The players cannot return to the game until after the extra point try on a score, if the score difference becomes less than 18. If there are not enough players to sit out 8, then the leading team must sit out all 18 point players except for one designated injury player. The designated player cannot return to the game unless an injury occurs and the injured player is removed from the game.

NFL Gatorade Punt/ Pass/ & Kick The annual NFL Gatorade Punt, Pass & Kick program at Griffin Park on September 28, 2002. Check-in is at 9:15 a.m. with the contests starting at 10 a.m. The Punt, Pass & Kick program is designed for boys and girls ages 8 - 15 to compete separately against their peers in punting, passing, and place-kicking skills. To encourage participation and give each child an equal opportunity to compete, there is no registration fee or purchase required. All contestants must fill out a waiver form, present a valid birth certificate for age verification and wear tennis shoes (cleats are not allowed).
