WE WON!!!!!!!!!
It was a great game. We played Dreamworks for the Championship of the "E" Division and it was close all the way. We jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st. They came back with 1 run each in the bottom half of the 1st and 2nd. We scored 2 more in the 3rd and they countered with 1 each again in the 3rd and 4th to make it 5-4 us. We scratched out 1 in the 5th but gave up 2 in the bottom of the inning to even the score at 6-6. In the top of the 6th we broke out with 5 runs and shut them down the last two innings for an 11-6 victory and Championship t-shirts. Glenn also received a nice plaque (instead of a trophy).
We played good defense by keeping the errors to a minimum and never letting them get a big inning going. Joseph made a great catch down the left field line for the 3rd out in the 2nd. Jim Jones made 2 great plays. First grabbing a 2 hopper and feeding Kevin at first on the run and later with men on and 1 out, caught a line drive and fired to Joseph who was sprinting across second base to double off the runner. Anthony made a nice basket catch to end the 6th, running in and calling off 3 guys behind 2nd base. Andres pitched a super game with a broken knuckle on his pitching hand. He kept the hitters off balance allowing only 1 homerun 1 walk and 1 strikeout.
The Dreamworks pitcher was also up to the task. He gave up only singles and didn't walk anyone. We were just able to put our hits together.
The Fall season practice games begin the week of 9/7 and league games run through 11/23 depending on rainouts. Glen will call with the details when they become known.
