January 25, 2019 Clear Lake 63 - Clear Creek 56

In Creek's gym in the first round of district play, Creek prevailed 64-59. Tonight in Krueger Field House, Lake came out on top by 7, 63-56. Lake is now in 2nd place in the district.

Creek's Calen Robinson (#3), with a game high 25 points, carried his team in the second half.

After 10 lead changes in this game, I stopped counting. Needless to say, it was a close game.  After a rather dismal 2nd quarter (7 points for Lake and 4 for Creek), Casey Davis's midcourt buzzer beater to end the 3rd quarter and put Lake ahead 41-40 was an omen. It fired up an already fired up Falcon squad for the final period. Lake outscored Creek 22 to 16 in the 4th quarter.

Balanced scoring for Lake with John Argue 16, Casey Davis 15, JaJa Sanni 14, and Jake Mather 10. Jeremiah Maldonado, Riley Gingrich, and Lawrence Brown came in off the bench to provide extremely valuable support to their team. They each made a valuable contribution toward the win.

FYI: Lake was 12 of 17 on free throws while Creek only shot 2 free throws in the game. Lake is now 21-6, 5-2.  Lake is at Falls Tuesday. Don't take anything for granted.

January 18, 2019. Clear Lake 87 - Alvin 61

J Sanni 20 pts., J Argue 14, J Mather 14, J Maldonado 10 ......(Proof that your first name has to start with a J for you to score in double figures). Lake is now 20-6, 4-2.

The Falcons scored 49 points in the second half. Alarming though it might be, Alvin's 61 points against Lake was the most points the Yellowjackets have scored against any District opponent.

After the first half of district play, the 24-6A standings are as follows:

1 Dickinson  6-0

2 Creek 5-1

3 Lake 4-2

4 Brook 3-3

5 Springs 2-4

6 Falls 1-5

7 Alvin  0-6

Lake has a bye Tuesday night which gives us a week to prepare to beat Creek on Friday night.

Clear Lake 63 - Clear Brook 51

Posted by Donald Wilkerson at Jan 10, 2019 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

In an intense game justly representative of what to expect in District 24-6A competition, the Falcons prevailed over the noticeably quick Wolverines 63-51. Lake was up by 2 at the half. It was a close game that was tied multiple times in the second half with Lake usually leading.

Clear Brook shot the ball exceptionally well. The game was delayed for a bit by a very  strange official call.

Lake scored 16 of 22 free throws. Brook scored 3 of 5. John Argue had 22 points and 16 rebounds, Casey Davis had 14 points. Caleb Wright had 11. Lake is now 19-5 for the season and 3-1 in district play.
