News and Announcements

The Washington Township Senators swept two from the Sewell Sharks yesterday at Clearview High School by scores of 5-1 and 13-3. Don Davis got his first Senator mound victory in the first game, tossing a complete game and fanning eight.

Jim McAllister has his usual eventful morning, stealing SIX bases in the twin-bill, playing a solid shortstop, and generally creating havoc. Chris Lawrence picked up the Game #2 win with five solid innings of work. Ken Bevenour had a booming double in that game to drive in two runs.

Next up: the Nats visit Wesley Bishop for a game against the Moorestown Marlins.

Lawrence Stifles Tiger Offense

Posted by N Frese at Apr 27, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Chris Lawrence tossed his second complete game of the young season, stifling the Tabernacle Tiger offense on just three hits and picking up his second win of the year when the Senators rallied for two in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Tigers by a 3-2 score.

Miles Reader and Danny Laudisio each had two singles, and Ken Bevenour reached base in three of his four trips. Shawn Senior was VERY impressive for the Tigers, but when the lefty departed after the fifth inning, the Senator offense went to work, collecting seven hits off the Tiger bullpen and doing just enough to get the "w".

Reader also had a great diving catch in right field, and Alan McNulty flashed some solid leather at third as well. But it was Lawrence's day, as he retired 15 Tigers in a row at one point, and allowed just TWO baserunners -- both reaching on infield errors -- after the second inning.

Late Senator Offense Sinks Pilots

Posted by N Frese at Apr 20, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The Washington Township Senators pounded out 13 hits over the last three innings to turn a taut 4-4 game into a 14-5 rout of the Rancocas Pilots. Bill Trotman and Frank Izzi each had three hits, and Mark Alessandrini and Dan Laudisio (3 RBI) each had two hits and two walks to set the table. Ken Bevenour was on base in all five ABs, and Jim McAllister picked up three steals.

Alan McNulty, in his first Senator starting assignment, picked up the win with five solid innings of work. Chris Lawrence and Don Davis finished up the job with a combined three innings of yeoman-like work.

Next up for the Senators: an interesting match at WTHS against the 2-0 Tabernacle Tigers, who beat the Marlton Red Sox yesterday by a 10-7 margin. Pitching plans and lineups will be announced later in the week.

Senators, Lawrence Give Ellie Opening Day Win

Posted by N Frese at Apr 18, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The Washington Township Senators, behind the complete game pitching of Chris Lawrence, beat the Bordentown Patriots 5-2. The pre-game was highlighted when Ellie Koerner tossed out the first ball, humming a strike to Senator catcher Dan Laudisio. It was a moment that will not soon be forgotten by all who were there to witness it.

Lawrence was masterful in the win, scattering just six hits and tossing 119 pitches on the chilly morning. Mark Alessandrini was on base all four times for the Nats, and rookie ALan McNulty went 2-for-2 in his Senator debut. And another new Senator, Don Davis, chipped in with a clutch two-run single.

The Sens have another test against the division's new youth, as they travel to Rancocas Valley to face the Rancocas Pilots on 4/20. McNulty will get the baseball in his first-ever Senator starting nod.

Additionally, there are rumors flying about another Senator signing, a BIG one. More on this as it develops.
