DUSTERS SHOW WELL AT 10-U "A" NATIONALS

Congratulations to the Dusters for going 6-2 at ASA Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma! Dusters showed up in Oklahoma underdogs from the start to California & Arizona. Dusters first friendly on Sunday afternoon was against the Arizona Hotshots - who had their own magazine article in the softball magazine provided by the tournament - they were spoken very highly of and expected to be in the top 10 at ASA Nationals. Dusters won a 1-0 game against them & went on to face the Georgia Extreme Purple who placed 5th in the finals. Dusters started off slow against Extreme but came back to prevail a 9-4 win. In pool play on Tuesday, the Dusters fell into a tough pool with Southern California Fury, Arizona Hotshots & a local Oklahoma team. The Dusters faced Hot Shots first on Tuesday and came away with a big win. Dusters advanced to the winning side of the pool Wednesday to face So Cal Fury who is said to have a lead-off batter that is one of the best athletes in the state of California & a #2 that is so fast it's almost impossible to throw out. The Dusters played tough & pulled off a 1-0 win, advancing them to the bracket games with the opportunity to draw a bye. The Dusters drew a bye, but this placed them in a very tough side of the bracket. The Dusters first faced Ohio Lasers (OH state champs) on Thursday & won that game 8-3. Dusters were then to face the "predicted National winner" Lakewood Ladies out of California. This "unknown" Texas team held the LW Ladies to a 0-0 tie forcing an ITB inning - the LW Ladies prevailed in this game, knocking the Dusters to the losers bracket - which happened to be one of the toughest sides to fall in. The Dusters faced Arizona Hot Shots once again on Saturday, scoring first & never losing the lead to send the Arizona Champs home. The Dusters then waited to face the Oklahoma Badside (Champs in everything in OK & never lost in 10-U until they met a Cali. team at this tournament). Dusters knew it would be a tough game but felt if they could get through this one they'd have a chance to get back to the finals. Dusters scored first leading 1-0 and in the final inning of a no-hitter a couple of mistakes were made, allowing the Badside to score two runs and win the game. Diamond Dusters went out 13th in a pool of 53 of the most talented teams in the nation. Diamond Dusters left a mark on the National softball society & will be back again soon! We are very proud to say we are the DUSTERS - You Know!
The DIAMOND DUSTERS played in the Katy classic tournament and finished fourth out of sixteen teams not bad ,but the DUSTERS did not have their best outing of the fall.We as a team will learn from the mistakes we made and improve as a team.
