A good first half performance by Kilroot II good enough for the points

Saturday 12th May 2007 Kilroot Rec II 4 v 2 Downpatrick II Kilroot scorers Phillip Burnside David Kidd Gary McCahon Darren white @ Beltoy This low key affair by visiting Downpatrick II who in the past week had blown any chance of promotion was easily brushed aside by Kilroot II in the first half. Downpatrick took the lead on 6 minutes dodging the offside trap to give Hamilton in the Kilroot nets no chance.0-1 13 minutes a Phillip Burnside special levelled the scores 1-1 25 minutes David Kidd assisted by the Downpatrick defender put Kilroot in front 2-1 32 minutes Gary McCahon increased Kilroot’s lead 3-1 41 minutes Kilroot killed off the game by scoring a fourth goal by Darren White 4-1. 66 minutes Kilroot’s first change Gary Mulholland replaced by Chris Barry 67 minutes Downpatrick who had taken the game to Kilroot reduced the arrears with a neat goal 4-2 Downpatrick had a good claim for a penalty ignored as the referee didn’t see the incident plus Barry Meek made a courageous goal line clearance to prevent a certain Downpatrick goal. Kilroot’s Phillip Burnside had a goal disallowed for offside and Chris Armstrong had two great one on one with keeper both missed. Kilroot made a double substitution on 78 minutes in an effort to stem the Downpatrick pressure Andy Mearns and Gary McClune replaced Gary McCahon and Darren white. The game finished with Downpatrick on top but didn’t score any more goals.
