Berlin Blast Results 2015

The Berlin Minutemen hosted a statewide tournament on Sunday, January 18th at Berlin high School attended by 350 wrestlers. The Minutemen wrestled well and the morning group of Bantams and Intermediates placed second in the team scoring. Here are the individual results: Bantams; Colin Peck – 1st, Malecah Rios – 3rd, Austin Teti – 1st, Ayden Rodriguez – 3rd, Aiden LeVasseur – 3rd, Elijah Ortiz – 3rd, Osi Yearwood – 1st, Nicholas Ebrahimi – 2nd, Batu Kayaarasi – 3rd, Intermediates; Nicholas Koops- 2nd, Landon Vieira – 2nd, Mary Morley – 4th, Jace Cillizza – 4th, Emeka Yearwood – 3rd, Anthony Faienza – 3rd, Johnny Rosario – 1st, Nicholas Cordone – 1st, Novice; Nicholas Martin – 4th, Isaac Cortes – 2nd, Christianna Morley 4th, Jacob Wagner – 4th, Jordan Sackschewsky – 1st, Michael Lukaszewski – 3rd, Sebestyen Gabor – 2nd, Middle School; Devon Richards – 3rd, Madalin Morley – 4th, Vincenzo DeFrancesco – 3rd and Jackson Vail – 4th.

Colchester Tournament Results

A large group of Berlin Minutemen traveled to Colchester to compete in the beginner tournament.  There was plenty of action with the following results: Bantams; Malecah Rios - 1st, Elijah Ortiz - 3rd, Osi Yearwood - 1st, Nicholas Ebrahimi - 1st, Intermediate; Mary Morley - 3rd, Anthony Faienza - 4th, Johnny Rosario - 2nd, Nicholas Cordone - 2nd, Novice; Nicholas Martin - 3rd, Jordan Sackschewsky - 1st, Middle School; Devon Richards - 2nd, Madalin Morley - 4th, Jackson Vail - 3rd.

Southington Results

On Sunday, January 5th the Berlin Minutemen traveled to Southington High School for the Sharkfest Tournament.  For many it was their first experience in a tournament format and here are the results.

Bantam Division; Malecah Rios won two matches on her way to a second place finish. Austin Teti won three matches to bring home gold, Osi Yearwood won two matches to finish 2nd, Elijah Ortiz wrestled tough and finished 4th while Nicholas Ebrahimi finished 2nd place.  

In the Intermediate Division Landon Vieira went 3-0 on the day showing his best effort of the season and brining home first place, Emeka Yearwood placed 2nd and Johnny Rosario finished 3rd.

In the afternoon sessions, Issac Cortes and Jordan Sackschewsky too third while Jacob Wagner finished 4th.  The lone Middle School wrestler was Jackson Vail at 123 lbs who was in a tough bracket with two potential state place finishers, he finished 4th on the day.

Coach Roger Moss said, "We had two weeks off due to the holiday vacation so to do as well as we did was a great sign of how well these young wrestlers are progressing."

2014 BERLIN WRESTLING CAMP

SELECTED AS COACH OF TEAM USA AT THE GEORGIA CLASSIC
DATES: MONDAY, JUNE 30TH, TUESDAY, JULY 1ST, AND WEDNESDAY, JULY 2ND
TIME: 8:30AM TO 3:00 PM
SITE: McGee Middle School, Norton Rd, Berlin
Cost: $100    (Bring own lunch, fluids and snacks)
GRADE: 3rd grade and up, not for beginners and must be able to stay forcused for two hours.
Gear: Bring wrestling shoes, running shoes, 2 tee shirts, shorts (knee pads optional)
