Shelbyville Lady Golden Bears Basketball

WALDRON--- There's something about playing smaller Shelby County rivials that gives the Shelbyville girls' basketball team fits.

The Lady Golden Bears won their 9th game of the season Tuesday night at Waldron 55-42. The Bears led from start to finish. The Lady Bears JV team won big at Waldron Tuesday night by a score of 51-12. The Bears were led in scoring by LeAnn Douglas 15, Dana Gardner 14, Ashley Ayers 8, Laura John 6, Julie Snuffer 5, Lauren Murphy 4, and Lauren Rees 3. Waldron was led in scoring by Debbie Wisker 18. The Lady Bears are 9-5 overall and 3-1 in HHC play. The Bears next opponent will be Mount Vernon in HHC play Saturday from Garrett Gymnasium JV tip 1 PM. and Varsity tip 2:30 PM.

WHITELAND--- It's difficult to imagine any team needing 41 free throws to win.

On Saturday, i saw two county titles awarded, three basketball games played and survived a total of five overtime periods--- all in just one day. Who said free throw shooting is a lost art.

The Shelbyville Lady Golden Bears had there highest scoring game of the 2004-2005 season to date as they scored 91 in 91-86 triple overtime victory at Whiteland Saturday. It was 17-13 Whiteland after one 34-32 Shelby at halftime 48-42 Shelby after three 65 all at the end of regulation 71 all after the first overtime 79 all after the second overtime the bears outscored Whiteland 12-7 in the third overtime. The bears were led in scoring by LeAnn Douglas 20, Dana Gardner 19, Lauren Murphy 14, Ashley Ayers 12, Julie Snuffer 10, Lauren Rees 9, Melanie Clark 4,and Laura John 3. Whiteland was led in scoring by Jessica Huffman 40. Shelbyvile had 34 turnovers and was 41-of-54 from the line. The bears next opponent is Tuesday Night at Waldron JV tip 6 PM. and Varsity tip 7:30 PM.
