10/15/00 Windham Shuts Out Pacers 4-0

Posted by Dale Dubois at Nov 1, 2000 10:17PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Windham Soccer Club shut out the Pacers on Sunday, 4-0. It was a tough game as usual with the other Granite State team. Windham came out strong and scored two goals in the first half of play. The Pacers changed the game plan at the break and came out with 5 midfielders. This plan worked as the Pacers controlled the play from the start of the half. The ball could not find the net in numerous attempts from many Pacer players as the Windham keeper was very skilled. The offensive push died off as the Windham team quick countered with their third goal about midway through the half. They were to add another to finish the game with four. The Pacers take on the Peabody Spartans this Sunday in Peabody. Please let Peter Hall know if you are going to make the game or not so we can get an accurate player count.

10/29/00 Pacers top Danvers 3-2

Posted by Dale Dubois at Oct 30, 2000 11:56PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The NH Pacers showed up with a team and an attitude to win as they posted a 3-2 win over the International team from Danvers. The win moves the Pacers up a spot in the standings, just ahead of the Danvers team. It was a freezing cold day with snow flying as the game began. There was no scoring for the better part of the first half. Sean Kelly started the scoring for the Pacers in the first half as he headed the ball into the Danvers net late in the first half for a 1-0 lead. It remained this way until about 10 minutes into the second half when Dave Sayward finished a ball at the eighteen after a corner kick. The Pacers went up 3-0 when Jeff Guilds found the side netting half way through the half on a zero angle shot. The Pacers made the game interesting by allowing the Danvers team to score twice to bring the score to 3-2. This is how the game was to end. Look for the Pacers to win against the Peobody Sporting Club this weekend as they try to move up another spot in the standings.

10/8/00 Westford Outlasts Pacers 5-1

Posted by Dale Dubois at Oct 10, 2000 11:02AM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Pacers did well through the first half of play, despite starting with only 9 players and later adding just one. Westford got on the board first, as the Pacers were stuck in their own 18 until the 10th man arrived. With 10 men it was more of a contest and the Pacers were able to pull together some offensive drives. The Pacers goal came late in the first half as John Guilds headed in a perfect crossing serve by Sean Kelly. The score remained tied at one a piece at the half. The hopes of another player showing up for the Pacers at this time was gone. So was the ability to prevent four unanswered goals by Westford. The final whistle couldn't come quick enough to put this game behind. Hopefully the Pacers can scrape up 15 players for the next game against the tough Windham team at home at Sportsman Field in Bedford.

10/1/00 Pacers Crush Peobody Sporting Club 5-1

Posted by Dale Dubois at Oct 2, 2000 12:20AM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Pacers finally put it together with a 5-1 thrashing of the Sporting Club of Peobody. The Pacers struck first as John Guilds found the back of the net with one of his two goals of the match. Bertie O'Gorman was next in line as he headed in one of his two scores of the game. The Pacers controlled the game from the start with good midfield and defensive control. This was a nice change from the last few matches. Mike Cloutier controlled the pace at the midfield as the Peobody team gave the Pacers plenty of space. "I had enough time to make a sandwich out there..." Cloutier said following the game. The score remained 2-0 into half time festivities of bagels and cream cheese brought in by the Correai brothers. Peobody scored early in the second half on a nice shot outside the area that Chris Cloutier couldn't get a hand on. Chris played consistently good in net spoiling all other Peobody chances. The Pacers came right back with two goals in the next 5 minutes of play, John Guilds second and one from Jeff Guilds. After this it was all Pacers. Bertie O'Gorman got his second goal of the night to end the scoring at 5-1. All of the Pacer goals were impressive. Starting from the defence to the midfield then outside to the forward for a service into the box and finishing with a score. The Pacers will try to repeat this performance against the tough Westford Football Club next week. The game will possibly be changed to Monday afternoon. We will post the change upon notification.
