6/10/01 Pacers Down Danvers 5-2

Posted by Dale Dubois at Jun 9, 2001 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Pacers showed up with numbers and Danvers showed with 8. After a few players left we decided we could still have a game. The Pacers got on the board early with goals from the scoring machine, Bertie O'Gorman, who had two, Scott Sharby, Steve Elias, and John "this can't be my first goal" Guild. The Danvers crew did a good job scoring twice in the second half against the lackadaisical Pacers squad. Their first goal fooled our keeper, Chris Cloutier, as it found the far netting on a cross. The second goal was due to unmarked players in the backfield. Steve Bicknell found it necessary to dance with one of the Danvers defenders and the two were ejected from the game. It is unfortunate for the Pacers will now loose two points in the standings. A Quick check of the results have found that Billerica lost to Hollis in their final game. So if the Pacers beat the Peobody team, they will end up in second place and a trip to the playoffs.... Stay posted for game updates.
It was a tough night for the Pacers as they dropped a game to the first place Windham team, 5-0. The Pacers could not buy a goal as at least eight good chances would just miss the net. Windham would capitalize with four to ruin the Pacers chances for a first place finish this session. The Pacers play at home this Sunday against Danvers at 9 AM. A win on Sunday will put the Pacers into second place again for a playoff berth. Come to Play...

6/3/01 Rovers Crush Shorthanded Pacers 5-1

Posted by Dale Dubois at Jun 3, 2001 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Billerica Rovers handed the Pacers their first loss on Sunday at Akerson Field. The Pacers showed up with only ten men. The field was tiny and the grass was long. The Pacers came out strong despite all these problems and scored first. The goal came after a shot by Brian Germain was deflected to the feet of leading goal scorer, Bertie O'Gorman, who tucked it into the net. Things fell apart quickly for the Pacers though as the let in three quick goals on miscommunication and indecision. The Rovers would score two more to end the game at 5-1. It is a shame that a team with 22 players on the roster can only field 10 men for a game when our team is in contention for the championship.
The NH Pacers and the Hollis Overlook battled the rain to a 2-2 tie on Sunday. The tie knocked the Pacers back to second place, two points behind Windham, who picked up a win on Sunday. This puts the pressure on the Pacers to win the remaining games. The Pacers got on the board first as took a shot that was saved by the keeper. The ball rebounded in front of the net and put it away for the 1-0 lead. Hollis tied the game shortly after on a cross from the outside that fooled Joe Correai, who was minding the net for the Pacers. The Pacers would go up a goal before the half on a throw in deep in the Overlook end. Jeff Bailey would tip the ball on with his head to Bertie O'Gorman, who was waiting to bury the second goal for the Pacers. Hollis would tie the score in the second half as the skies opened up and made controlling the ball impossible. Both teams had their chances to win the game late in the game, but could not finish with the sloppy conditions. The Game was followed by refreshments and viewing of the game films in the Pacers club house. Thanks to Jeff Guild. Next Sunday, the Pacers travel to Billerica to take on the Rovers at Ackerson Field for an 11 AM start. Come to play.

5/20/01 Pacers Battle Windham to a 0-0 Tie

Posted by Dale Dubois at May 20, 2001 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The NH Pacers and the Windham Soccer club went head to head to decide who would take over the first place spot in the division. However, after 90 minutes of play the standings would remain the same. The game would end in a 0-0 tie. Good hard soccer was played on both sides and tough defense did not allow many opportunities to score. The game was held in control by an excellent referee, I know it hard for me to say that. Even Scott would have like him, if he was allowed to play. Most important, no yellow or red cards. Next Sunday the Pacers go after win number 4 against the Hollis Overlook at our home turf. Two home games in a row...
