2013 Baseball Schedule Released

WON 14-6

The Hawks pounded out 11 hits and took advantage of 6 Brady errors to win their home opener 14-6. Liam McNicholas pitched 4 1/3 innings and added 2 hits and 2 rbi's to help his cause and collect the win on the mound. Collin Paraskeva (2 doubles & 2 rbi's) Harry Legier 2 hits and a rbi, Steve Auger 2 hits and a rbi also helped lead the attack. Andrew Clay came in to releave McNicholas on the mound and pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Clay, Evan O'keeffe, Andrew Reale all collected their first varsity hits.

 4/09  BISHOP BRADY  

W 5-3

   The Hopkinton JV Baseball team won its season opener, 5-3, as they squared off against Bishop Brady. Justin Madore (7 K's) pitched four solid innings to pick up the win for the Hawks, and Dave Nelson (6 K's) pitched well in relief to pick up a three-inning save. Leading the offense for the Hawks were Max Legier (1-for-1, BB, SB, run), Luke Luneau (2 RBI), Kyle LaPage (1-for-2, SB, run), and Alex Lajeunesse (1-for-3, run). Riley McNicholas (3 SB) had a walk, and also reached base on a two-out error that allowed two runs to score in the second inning.

4/16 CONANT 

LOST 3-2   

Hawks dropped a heart breaker losing 3-2 to a really good Conant team.  Collin Paraskeva pitched 6 strong innings allowing 2 unearned runs, striking out 3 while giving up 3 hits.  Colin O'Keeffe led the team with 2 hits while Evan O'Keeffe and Jake Nelson each had 1.

4/16 KEARSARGE   

 W 9-6   

  The Hopkinton JV Baseball team (2-0) beat Kearsarge 9-6.  Kenny Andrew stepped up for the Hawks pitching 4 innings with 7 K's in a long relief role to earn the win.  His battery-mate, Jacob Walling, threw out 3 runners from behind the plate and led the offense going 2-for-4 with a double, run, 4 RBI, and a SB.  Luke Luneau (1-for-2, BB, HBP, 4 runs, RBI, SB), Dave Nelson (2-for-2, 2 BB, 2 runs, RBI, SB), and Nolan Quinn (1-for-2, 2 BB, 2 RBI, SB) all contributed towards the Hawks offense.

4/17  KEARSARGE             WON 13-4
Liam McNicholas threw 6 innings of 3 hit ball striking out 4 while only walking 2. Dave Nelson pitched a scoreless 7th inning. Offensively, Andrew Clay collected 3 hits with 3 rbi's, Evan O'Keeffe 2 hits and 3 rbi's, Collin Paraskeva 2 hits and Steve Auger 3 rbi's plus 3 stolen bases. Wes Rose also had a hit and 2 sac bunts. Hawks are now 2-1 and travel to Fall Mountain Friday.

4/19  FALL MOUNTAIN 

         LOST 12-11  9 innings

Hawks fall at Fall Mountain today 12-11 in 9 innings. Steve Auger (3-4, a double, 3 runs an rbi and 4 stolen bases), Jake Nelson (3-4, Sac, 1 rbi), Andrew Reale (3-5 3bi's), Colin O'Keeffe (2-5) and Collin Paraskeva 1-3 with 2 rbi's. Riley McNicholas pitched 3 scoreless innings before he tired and gave up the winning run in the 9th.  A great performance for his first time on the mound this season.

4/22  CAMPBELL 

               LOST 5-0

The Hawks managed only 1 hit (Andrew Clay) and 2 walks (Clay and Evan O'Keeffe) as they fell to Campbell 5-0.  In a rematch of last years championship game the Hawks couldn't get anything going.  Campbell fielded the ball perfectly making all the plays and got some clutch hits.

W 14-11 

The Hopkinton JV baseball team (3-0), earned the victory, 14-11, in a back and forth game against Campbell.  Jacob Walling, Luke Luneau, David Nelson, and Nolan Quinn all remained hot at the plate going a combined 7-for-10 with five walks, 10 runs, and six RBI.  Max Legier (2-for-5, two runs) and Justin Madore (1-for-3, run, two RBI) also contributed towards the offense.  Alex Lajeunesse got the win for the Hawks in relief, pitching 3.1 innings with six strikeouts.  Catcher, Kolin LaPage, had a great play at the plate to tag out a Campbell runner who attempted to steal home.

4/29  MASCENIC                           LOST 3-2
Another tough game for the Hawks. 2 errors in the 1st allowed Mascenic to score a run and take the 1-0 lead. Hawks battled back scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st on a Auger HBP, Greabe BB, Evan O'Keefe rbi single and a Andrew Clay FC rbi. Mascenic tied it up in the top of the 2nd and that is where the score stayed until the top of the 6th when Mascenic scored the winning run. The Hawks committed 7 errors and wasted a pretty good pitching performance by Liam McNicholas, 7 IP 7 K's 1 BB. Wes Rose lead the team with 2 hits, Evan O'Keeffe, Colin O'Keeffe, Steve Auger and Liam McNicholas also had hits. On the negitive side, today was the first time this season that I didn't think everyone wanted to be here. Check yourself and bring a better approach to practice tomorrow. RELOAD!!!!!!!!!!!!

 4/30  MONADNOCK  

L 8-4 

The Hopkinton JV Baseball team (3-1) suffered their first loss on the season to Monadnock, 8-4.  Luke Luneau (2-for-4, run, rbi, stolen base), Dave Nelson (2-for-3, rbi, stolen base), and Nolan Quinn (rbi) helped contribute offensively for the Hawks.  Keenan Trahnstrom had a perfectly executed squeeze in the fifth inning to earn a rbi.  Trahnstrom also pitched a strong 3.2 innings in relief, striking out four, and allowing only one earned run.  Kenny Andrew had good game defensively for the Hawks at first base.

5/01  BOW

Lost 6-2

In one of the better defensive efforts of the season the Hawks made only 2 errors and got a standout performance from 3rd basemen Andrew Reale 4 assist and a put out.  The Hawks battled all game long and tied the game at 2-2 going into the 7th.  Evan O'Keeffe led the offense with 2 hits Auger, C. O'Keeffe, Paraskeva and Rose also added a hit.  Collin Paraskeva pitched well until he tired throwing 92 pitches while allowing 4 hits and 4 walks.  He also knocked in the tieing run in the bottom of the 6th.

The Hopkinton JV Baseball team beat Bow 5-2 behind a strong pitching performance from Dave Nelson (5.0 innings, 4 K's, 3 hits, walk).  Nelson also helped his cause by getting a hit and a RBI.  Evan Schindewolf, Kolin LaPage (RBI), and Mitchell Mele all collected their first hits on the season.  Luke Luneau and Jacob Walling continued to swing a hot bats, going a combined 5-for-7 with two runs scored.  Defensively, Hawks shortstop Max Legier had two assists and four putouts, and Kyle LaPage made a great catch in left-center to prevent a leadoff double to the gap in the bottom of the sixth.

5/03  NEWPORT 

Won 5-2

Liam McNicholas pitched 5 strong innings striking out 4 while walking 3 and allowing only 5 hits to pick up the win.  Harry Legier returned to the line up in a big way, throwing out a runner at the plate from left field and pitching 2 innings of relief to earn the save.  Offensively Steve Auger had a hit and 3 stolen bases.  Wes Rose, Colin O'Keeffe rbi single, Liam McNicholas and Andrew Reale each had a sac fly and Luke Greabe had his first varsity hit.

The Hopkinton JV Baseball team (5-1) got an excellent pitching performance from Alex Lajeunesse (5.0 innings, 10 strikeouts, three walks, two hits, one earned run) to beat Newport, 15-2. The Hawks had an 8-0 lead when they took the field for defense in the bottom of the first inning. Jacob Walling went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs, and four RBI for the Hawks.  Dave Nelson (1-for-1, two walks, two runs, RBI) and Evan Schindewolf (1-for-1, two RBI) were productive from the clean-up spot in the order.  Kenny Andrew got his first hit on the season, and both Josh Angell (hbp) and Sam Chase (walk) with bases loaded earned their first RBIs. The Tigers scored their two runs in the fourth inning.

The Hopkinton JV Baseball team fell to Bow 11-3.  On offense, the Hawks had six hits, five walks, and three hbp, but left eleven men on base.  Max Legier (1-for-3, walk, three runs, stolen base), Dave Nelson (2-for-3, double, walk, two rbi, stolen base), and Nolan Quinn (1-for-3, walk, rbi) were responsible for the Hawks scoring.  On defense, the Hawks made three errors that led to Bow scoring five runs in the top of the fourth inning. For the Hawks, Etienne Fontaine got his first career assist on defense while playing second base.

The Hopkinton JV baseball team beat Hillsboro in six innings, 17-7.  The Hawks struck early, scoring seven runs in the first.  Leading the way for the Hawks were Kevin Smith (4-for-5, double, two runs, two RBI), Josh Angell (2-for-4, walk, three RBI), Kenny Andrew (2-for-4, two doubles, two runs, RBI), Justin Madore (1-for-3, two walks, four runs, two RBI), and Alex Lajeunesse (1-for-3, double, two runs, two RBI).  Etienne Fontaine reached base three times (two walks, HBP) and scored two runs.  Defensively, Max Legier had an outfield assist to throw a runner out at the plate from right field, and Andrew turned an unassisted double-play.

Keenan Trahnstrom pitched a perfect game for the Hopkinton JV baseball team, helping the Hawks beat Franklin 13-0. Trahnstrom threw five efficient innings-only needing 52 pitches-while striking out three batters. Trahnstrom also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple, two runs, and a RBI. Max Legier (3-for-3, two runs, RBI), Dave Nelson (1-for-3, run, two RBI), Kenny Andrew (1-for-1, run, RBI), Justin Madore (1-for-1, double, RBI), and Mitchell Mele (1-for-2, walk, run, two RBI) all contributed offensively. The Hawks played excellent defense behind Trahnstrom to keep the perfect game in tack. First baseman Nolan Quinn had three unassisted plays and two putouts.

The Hopkinton JV baseball team improved to 8-2 with a win against Bishop Brady, 5-2.  Bishop Brady plated the first run of the game in the bottom of the third to take a 1-0 lead.  In the top of the fourth, Luke Luneau (3-for-3, double, two runs, two stolen bases) and Dave Nelson (1-for-4, double, run, RBI) hit back-to-back doubles to tie the game.  Nelson would later reach third on two consecutive walks by Nolan Quinn (two walks) and Justin Madore (1-for-1, two walks, run, stolen base) and then score on a passed ball to give the Hawks a 2-1 lead.  Nelson (seven strikeouts, four walks, five hits, one earned run) pitched a complete game for the Hawks to record the win.  Mitchell Mele played a great second base behind Nelson, with two putouts and two assists.  Bishop Brady starting pitcher, Riley Logue, recorded 11 strikeouts (five walks) over seven innings, and allowed only one earned run.

5/15  CAMPBELL 

Lost 4-3

The Hawks left 13 guys on base, 8 in scoring position and left the winning run on 2nd base in the 7th inning.  Liam McNicholas continues to pitch well striking out 6, giving up 3 earned runs while allowing 8 hits and 5 walks.  Freshman Alex Lajeunesse knocked in the tieing run in the bottom of the 6th to make the game 3-3. Nate Shatney came on in the 7th to collect a clutch hit to keep the late game rally going. Hawks drop to 7-6.

L 13-1

The Hopkinton JV baseball team lost to Campbell 13-1.  Luke Luneau continued to hit the ball hard, going 1-for-3, and Kenny Andrew (1-for-2, RBI) drove in the Hawks lone run scored by Evan Schidnewolf (1-for-2, run, stolen base).  Both Mitchell Mele and Jacob Walling went 1-for-1 with a walk.  Nolan Quinn also singled.

5/16 CONANT  

L 15-5

The Hopkinton JV baseball team fell to Conant, 15-5, in 5 1/2 innings.  It is the first time that the Hawks have lost back-to-back games this season.  Luke Luneau went 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk, a run, and a RBI.  Kolin LaPage collected a hit and plated his first RBI of the season.  Alex Lajeunesse hit a double and scored a run, and Justin Madore had two walks and a RBI.  Jacob Walling also went 2-for-3 for the Hawks, with two singles and a run.

5/17  HILLSBORO  Hawks beat Hillsboro-Deering 10-1 behind the offensive play of Jake Nelson (2-3 HR and 4 rbi's) Colin O'Keeffe (2-4 with 2 rbi's) Collin Paraskeva, Nate Shatney each with a hit and an rbi and finally Wes Rose hit a triple.  Defensively: Luke Greabe 6 assists and 2 put outs, Collin O'Keeffe 9 put outs and 1 assist.  Finally the pitching:  Harry Legier (Win) 3 K's 2 BB and only 3 hits in 5 innings of work.  Paraskeva 3 K's in 1 inning of work and Riley McNicholas 1 inning of work 1 hit allowed 1 K.

The Hopkinton JV Baseball team improved to 9-4 with an 11-2 win against Hillsboro.  Justin Madore pitched four innings for the Hawks to earn the win while striking out eight, walking one, surrendering one hit, and allowing no runs.  Alex Lajeunesse (2-for-3, double, walk, two runs, RBI), Mitchell Mele (2-for-5, run, two RBI), Luke Luneau (2-for-5, walk, two runs, stolen base), Nolan Quinn (1-for-1, three walks, two runs), and Josh Angell (2-for-3, run, RBI) led the Hawks offense.  In the bottom of the sixth inning, foreign exchange student, Etienne Fontaine (run), collected his first hit of the season for the Hawks on a ball that landed in shallow right-center field.  Kolin LaPage (triple, RBI) and Jacob Walling (double) also had extra-base hits for the Hawks.

Hawks 9-1

Senior Colin O'Keeffe save one of his better days for Senior Day as he collected a season high 4 hits, 2 runs scored, 2 stolen bases and a RBI.  Luke Greabe and Harry Legier each added 2 hits, Greabe added an RBI.  Collin Paraskeva pitched 5 strong innings to collect the win while Liam McNicholas threw 2 innings to help close the door on Kearsarge.  Other noteables would be Wes Rose hit 2 runs scored and an rbi.

5/21 KEARSARGE  HOME 

W 5-3

The Hopkinton JV baseball team beat Kearsarge in a close 5-3 game.  The Hawks found themselves down 2-0 before they had an at-bat, but were determined to comeback.  By the end of the third the Hawks cut the Cougars' lead to 3-2, and tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth.  Then in the sixth the Hawks scored on a Kolin LaPage RBI single to plate Luke Luneau (walk, two stolen bases).  Kolin LaPage later scored on a Justin Madore sac-fly to left to put the Hawks up 5-3.  Dave Nelson (2-for-2, double, two RBI), Kyle LaPage (1-for-1, two runs, hbp), Sam Chase (1-for-1, walk, run) also helped lead the Hawks offense.  Evan Schindewolf and Kenny Andrew also had base hits.  Josh Angell had a heads up double play at shortstop and Max Legier made a great catch on a ball in left field.

Liam McNicholas needed 116 pitches to throw a complete game 7 hitter.  He struck out 2 walked 0 and was in command most of the afternoon.  Wes Rose was the hittin
