The 2004 Golden Jet Award marked the 5th time the award has been handed out to a Varsity Jet. The award goes to the player who best personifies pride, effort, dedication, and positive football attitude at practice and on game day. This year's award went to Shawn Cordes. Shawn has been with the Jets Varsity the last 3 season's. He helped the Jets run to their championship in 2003 and was their team sparkplug on the offense this past season.
Update: Shawn played 4 years with the Bucks from 2006-2009. In his senior season of 2009 he had 100 carries for 627 yards and scored 7 rushing TDs. He finished his career with 66 points and 1,748 yards on 245 carries for a 7.1 yards per carry average.
Shawn was selected an All American along with his three Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets teammates on the 4x100 relay team. The turned in a 41.46 run good for eighth place at the 2012 NCAA Division III at Claremont (CA) Mudd-Scripps College. The top eight competitors in each event garner the All American accolades. Shawn graduated from Baldwin Wallace in the Spring of 2014 and is pusuing a career in teaching.
The 2003 Golden Jet Award was a tough choice for the Jets' coaches to make. Finally it was decided to split the award between two deserving players who exemplified pride, effort, dedication and positive football attitude.
The players selected were Josh Bennett and Matt Nash. These two players were leaders both on the practice field and on game day. Both played with the Jets Varsity in 2002 and 2003.

The Jets had their awards banquet on November 20th at The Copper Top banquet room. They ate, watched a highlight DVD and most important to the players and cheerleaders handed out trophies. The Varsity Coaches also handed out the 6th Annual Golden Jet Award. This year's recipient was Chris Boutton. He is pictured below with Head Coach Steve Watkins. Congratulations to all the Jets on their 2005 Season.
A couple of Jets Alumni are now seeing playing time with the 2005 Bucks at the Varsity level. Above is Simo Kraguljac who is a junior and is playing Fullback for the Bucks. Below is Josh Varney who played with the Jags JV and then a couple years with the Jets in 2000 & 2001. Josh was the 1st Golden Jet Award Winner and is seeing some line play with the Bucks.
The Jets have finished 5 Seasons in Brunswick Youth Football and posted below are the series records against the other teams from 2000 through the end of the 2004 season.
We went 1-6 and 2-6 the first 2 seasons, but have combined for a 19-6 record from 2002-2004. We were runner up in 2002 and BYF Champs in 2003. The Jets have come a long way in 5 seasons and Buckeye Football is proud of this team and its coaching staff for their effort and dedication to this youth football program.
