We are happy to report that the injury situation for the Jets has gotten much better as the players are returning to practice and play after suffering a rash of injuries at the beginning of practice and carrying over to the first week of the season. This is the worst season for injuries Buckeye Youth Football has seen since it's inception in 1996. Here's to everyone being back in action and no further serious injuries occuring. image

2009 Medina Kick Off Classic

Posted by Dave Rea at Aug 22, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Jets had a tough beginning to the Medina Kick Off Classic as they were defeated by the Medina Stallions 19-6 and the Medina Rampage 13-0 in pool play on Saturday. They did get redemption today as they bested the Rampage in a rematch by a score of 13-6 at Bill Dunn Field. Coming off a win will make it a easier to get into practice this week as they go through the final two weeks before the Varsity Season opens on September 5th. Nice job Jets and way to hang in there, keep playing and pick up the win to finish it off.

2007 Jets Finish 10-1 As Division Runner Up

Posted by Dave Rea at Oct 18, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The 2007 Jets were the 1st team from Buckeye to post 10 wins in a season. They went 8-0 on the regular season and then added 2 playoff wins, one each against the Strongsville Pride and the Brunswick Redskins. They then hooked up against the Brunswick Jets, who were seeking to win back to back after taking the 2006 crown at Steingass Field. The Jets trailed by one at the half 7-6 and even though the teams exchanged TDs in the second half, the difference was that Brunswick was able to convert a 1 point PAT and a 2 point PAT. The end result was a 15-12 loss and an 10-1 season. The Jets did however have a very good season, posting 6 shutouts and out scoring their opponents 230-48 in 11 games.

Congratulations to Head Coach Steve Watkins, Coaches Mike Vogt and Rick Monroe and the entire Jets Varsity Squad on an excellent season! You showed pride and determination all season and Buckeye Football is proud of you!

2007 Golden Jet Award

Posted by Dave Rea at Oct 3, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
This year's award went to Ricky Monroe who has shown just those qualities. He was a team leader on both the defensive and offensive sides of the ball. Ricky was a 5 year player in Buckeye Youth football. He began as an 8 year old with the Jets JV in 2003, and played 3 seasons at that level. In 2006 when the Jets didn't field a Varsity Squad he moved over to the Buccaneers Varsity. He returned to the Jets in 2007 as they again put a Varsity team on the field.

Nice job and Congratulations Ricky on your award and your positive attitude!

Update: Ricky played his Senior season with the Bucks in 2012. He has played at the Varsity level for 4 seasons now and compiled 294 carries for 1,599 yards and 21 touchdowns for the Bucks in his career. He plays both ways as he is a linebacker on defense. He finished tied for number 13 on the all time scoring list.
