In the first weekend back in action, the Ospreys of RSC were dealt 2 tough losses by highly regarded opponents. On Friday, Stockton Ice Hockey made their first-ever trip to Maryland to face the #6 team from Loyola. A penalty filled game ended with the Ospreys on the short end of a 3-1 score. Sunday’s home game brought perennial national contender California University (PA), currently ranked #2 in the Northeast. Another game with some curious penalty calling (both ways) left the Ospreys again on the short end of the score. This time, though the boys took some solace in extending the Cal U squad to overtime before losing while playing 2 men short in the OT stanza. Despite the losses, the team looks hungry for some league wins, and will have that opportunity beginning Saturday when they visit West Chester.
The Ospreys played 2 games this weekend and came out on top in both contests. In Saturday’s tilt with league rival East Stroudsburg, netminder Mike Plantarich led the team to a 10-4 rout. On Sunday, regular netminder Aaron Connell was back in goal for an 8-3 triumph over #7 ranked Wagner. The line of Massey, Kramer and Gunst combined for 4 goals in the Wagner game.
The team breaks for thanksgiving before returning in a Friday night visit to Widener in December.
The Ospreys make their second-ever trip to Western PA this weekend. The hope is a sweep and 3 straight wins over Pittsburgh area teams. The team beat U Pitt-Johnstown by a 7-2 score this past weekend. Great efforts by all players and a 4 goal 3rd period were key. Sunday’s game was postponed due to bad ice at AC Skate Zone. A Can Am men’s tournament all weekend took its toll and the Ospreys and Widener U teams were the victims.
