Regina Silver Foxes Announcement – May 1-2016
The Regina Silver Foxes are pleased to announce that in addition to Rob Dowie Head Coach/ General Manager, Lynda Frasz Assistant GM and Cody Sauer Assistant Coach, Garth Belanger will be joining our staff as an Assistant Coach next season. Garth joined our staff on an interim basis last season, but will be joining us in a full time capacity this season.

Garth played his minor hockey in Weyburn and had a brief stint with the home town Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). He has played on two provincial championship teams in Weyburn and in Senior Hockey with the Lang Knights of the Soo Line Hockey League (SLHL). He has coached many levels of hockey in the past 25 years and coached the Lang-Wilcox Rangers to a Senior Provincial D championship (1987) as well as the Regina Flyers Pee Wee (2003). Garth last coached the Midget AA Regina Wild in the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League (SSMHL).

In addition, we are pleased to announce the addition of Scott Simpkins as Director of Player Personnel.

Scott, as Director of Player Personnel will help identify areas of need and serve in a player recruitment capacity having considerable knowledge of the game of and its off ice processes.
His involvement in the sport spans over 25 years. He has coached at every level of minor hockey and worked for a number of years as a scout for the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and the Kimberley Dynamiters of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL). Scott also spent time as the Director of Business Operations for the Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL).

“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to be part of the Silver Foxes organization, I’ve always enjoyed evaluating the talent of players and I look forward to working with the coaching staff and volunteer members.”

Former Prairie Junior Hockey League players Landon Senchuk and Thomas Skelton will continue in their roles as Regional Scouts working with Scott in player identification and recruitment.
