Thank you

Girls, parents, everyone -

Thank you for the gift and cards. The notes are extremely special coming from all of you.

I have enjoyed coaching each of you throughout the years (it has really only been a couple/few, but it seems like more – in a good way). You are growing into such nice players and absolutely wonderful young women. Parents, please take pride in the great people you have helped them become.

It was a tough season, but I believe we learned more and gained some valuable insights into what we need to work on to become better players for the future. I know you all taught me what I need to work on as a coach.

Parents, I thank you for the commitment. It can get very busy in the summer, but we never were short-handed. I think that is a record! Again, thank you!

Caroline, you deserve a medal. Thanks for getting everything in order for the tournaments and the season. You have served these girls and me so tirelessly. Thank you.

Good luck, ladies, with that Brave New World called high school. MHS sure is getting some fantastic freshman.

Again, thank you all and God bless.

Sorry, Girls, bad news...

Posted by Jason Carlson at Jul 22, 2009 11:13AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Everyone,

I need to start this notice by letting everyone who does not already know, Kieran Winter, her sister, Estrella, and a friend were in a terrible traffic accident yesterday morning. Their friend was unhurt, Estrella suffered a broken nose and several facial lacerations, but Kieran is still in intensive care. She suffered from a shattered pelvis, punctured lung, severe had laceration, and a ruptured spleen. She was placed in a medically induced coma yesterday, however, she did not regain consciousness or respond to physical stimuli today as she did yesterday. Please pray for her and her family. She was our goalie last season, and our friend much longer than that.

Now for lesser gloom, we are still having the party tonight! However, I can’t make it a sleepover. I apologize profusely, girls, but I have a couple a very important meetings in the morning (that were just made today) so I don’t think it will, ultimately, work out. Now, there may be a chance later this week, but I am sorry. It is my fault for getting your hopes up and dashing them.

Parents, I encourage you to just come on over after the game tonight. Since we aren’t having a sleepover, the girls’ cleanliness isn’t going to kill everyone. They can still hop in the hot tub (remind them to bring their suits) if they want, play some basketball, more soccer?, or watch movies and chill.

Also, we are going to bake up some pizzas, so bring something that will go with that (chips, fruit, salad, treats, etc). We will have wine or beer for the parents who want to join in (Please do!).

Again, sorry ladies, but if I don’t do my job well enough, I can’t be a coach. And, I like coaching too much!

Party tomorrow night!

Posted by Jason Carlson at Jul 21, 2009 2:46PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Girls and Parents!

We are having a little celebration of the season at my house after tomorrow’s game.

The game is at 3:45, so, it should work well to just come over after the game and enjoy some socializing time with one another. This is extended to the parents, too!

Please send along something to eat or drink, please!

Also, against my better judgement, but following historical precedence (we did this last year, too), we are inviting the girls to stay over night. There will be some caveats, however.

1. We have a game the following day, so lights out will be strictly enforced at midnight.

2. We need the girls picked up early in the morning, since I have work and our two grumbly-morning teenagers in the household is more than enough for Tina to deal with. So, 8:30 pick up would be appreciated.

3. A commitment from the girls that if they stay over, they will play their hearts out that evening, because we want to do our best against our Canadian sisters! I will make them run sprints after the game if I don’t believe they gave their very best!

Nice effort today, everyone. I will see you at the ceremonies tonight!

Talk about the rewards of practice!

Girls,

I am soooo proud of how you came through last night in the clutch. Everyone played hard during the game, and everyone would have been ready to take their shots during the penalty kicks. It was a great win! Let’s be ready for a tough one tonight. I know it is early, but everyone needs to be at the game 30 minutes ahead of time.

Game time: 5:30pm
Arrive for warmups: 5:00pm

Also, the other U14 team plays right after us, so if you want, I would encourage you to stick around and cheer them on (especially Lexi!).

See you tonight!

Way to go Ladies!

Everyone -

It sure was nice to get that first win! Great goal, Tarrah, and nice assist from Katie. Anyway, let’s keep up the good work. Tomorrow’s game is way over in Menomonie, so make sure you get going early enough!

On a different note for you, Parents: here is a link to a survey the club would like each of you to fill out online. It is very quick, but also valuable for the continued development of the club. The results of the survey will be available after July 3. Thanks for taking the time.
