Combine that is Close!

Posted by Jeffersonville Football at May 17, 2013 4:32AM PDT

We are hosting a COLLEGE PROSPECT COMBINE NEXT WEDNESDAY (May 22nd) for the 3rd straight year—it is open to rising Sophs, Jrs, and Srs (NO current Seniors).

Per NCAA regulations, Division 1 and 1AA schools may not attend, BUT we always have many Division 2, D3, and NAIA coaches from Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio there (schools where MOST of our kids are going to end up playing—whether they think that right now or not).

This will be the LOWEST-PRICED ($25), MOST EXPOSURE (have had no fewer than 10 college coaches come every year we’ve done it), for the LEAST TRAVEL of any football camp they could attend. We will email THAT NIGHT every time and measurement and kids’ contact information from the camp to all the college coaches in attendance as well as probably 60 others (including all the D1 and 1AAs in my database who aren’t allowed to watch the camp).

There is no ‘pre-registration’ for the camp. They just need to come to the game field at Ballard between 4:00pm and 5:15pm next Wednesday — I recommend they get here close to 4:00, register, then go grab something to eat/drink across the street…there were quite a few kids from outside Jefferson County who came last year and the line got pretty long right before the events started. The events will start at 5:30…you are, of course, welcome to come watch it all too.

THERE IS A FORM THAT I NEED THEM TO HAVE SIGNED BY THEIR PARENT (it’s attached). So if they might come without their parents, they really should have this filled out ahead of time (that will also make their registration quicker).

The registration form should have all the information they need — but if they want more, have them go to Facebook and type in LOUISVILLE COMBINE or click this link: http://www.facebook.com/louisville.combine?ref=tn_tnmn (they can also find the Registration Form there in the NOTES section).
Please remind them to bring:

  • Cleats AND athletic shoes for INSIDE (gym floor) — we will have the event rain or shine
  • Helmet (for the 1on1 drills)
  • Jersey with a NUMBER on it (this REALLY helps the college coaches with identification) — can be a practice jersey
  • IF A QUARTERBACK — they should bring their own football and it should be MARKED with their name & school name
  • I want to make it clear that I will pocket ZERO of the money we take up. 100% of it will go to support our football players who cannot afford to pay their football fees out of pocket or who fall short on fundraising (trust me, they will have to WORK for the money).

If you or your kids or parents have any questions about it, please don’t hesitate to email me or call 439-4512.
Thanks,
Mike Jackson

Upcoming Season

Posted by Jeffersonville Football at Apr 19, 2013 10:12AM PDT

RED DEVIL NATION
The fundraising total for each participant this year is $225 dollars. Our first official event for this total will begin soon. It is important to remember that the Touchdown Club has established many opportunities to allow each participant to reach this goal. If you wish to just write a check for the total, by all means do so before the August 15th deadline. Please note, no one should have to pay one penny out of pocket for their participant to play football. If they work just a few of these events we have planned, each will reach the goal. The key word here though is ”WORK”!
Ways to Reach Goals:
Work Derby and Oaks/ Nationwide and Sprint Cup Event in June/Sell program ads as a portion of your sales come directly to your fundraising total/Sell the Discount Cards in August. As always check the team pages calendar for dates and times. Our summer schedule is up-to-date and has been posted.
The working event on May the 3rd Oaks and May the 4th Kentucky Derby is closing in on us really fast. The bus will leave Jeffersonville’s parking lot promptly at 6:15 A.M. We have a limited number of spaces available so sign up early. Due to the spaces being limited, if you sign up and don’t show up without 24 hours notice, you will be penalized $70 dollars. We have 45 spaces available for both days with the potential to raise over $7200 dollars on the weekend.
Who Can Work? Aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, friends, ect. You need to wear Kaki or Tan pants, white colored shirt and a HAT is a must! No shorts! Please wear tennis shoes as you will be standing and on your feet for a few hours. The more people who work for your participant the more money that goes into your participants account. Yes, we do keep accurate records and attendance. You can sign up through email, call or have your participant write it on my list that will be circulated here at school starting on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.
In closing, these events were done last year and we were successful using these methods to raise the funds necessary for your participant. As always, if you have questions or concerns, call my cell 502-773-8500 or email me personally @ loldham@gcs.k12.in.us and I will get you your answers promptly.

Plans for the Family's

Posted by Jeffersonville Football at Mar 13, 2013 10:31AM PDT

I have had some phone calls asking how to help Gavins family. Here is one idea we are going to do through the football team. The weeks of Sunday April 7th-Saturday April 13th and Sunday May 12th-Saturday May 18th, representing one and two months removed from the Funeral, we would like to supply dinner for the family. We would like to have a different family pick a night and cook for the family or provide a gift certificate for them to go out to eat! Cook what you wish but a few ideas would be to use disposable containers to make it easier on the family so they don’t have to clean or coordinate returning your dishes or pans. Meals that can be frozen and re-heated are also a good idea. If you want to share the meals cost with another family or pair up on the cooking that is fine also. Just contact me and I will coordinate this opportunity for us, to serve them in their time of need.

Visitations;
Arrangements for Torris Little
Scotts Funeral home
Viewing Friday 2-8
Funeral Saturday at 1

Coach Jones’s Mother
Saturday 3pm @ Perryman’s
34th and Broadway, Louisville

As a team, we will go directly from school on Friday to see Gavin. For Coach Jones, we need to leave our school parking lot by 2:30. I will need to leave early so I can drive the Basketball team leaving Jeffersonville at 3:30. Maybe we can take a mid and someone else can help drive if needed.

As always, any questions or concerns, contact me at 502-773-8500 or email at loldham@gcs.k12.in.us
