Games

Posted by Rob Graham at Mar 10, 2008 8:50AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Hi Parents,

Great 1st game for the girls! They really did play well.

The game schedule has gone through the final revision and is now final. There were very few changes. Of note, I added two games that I previously missed on April 8 and May 10. We do have a double-header against Stealth the last day of the regular season!!!

Lastly, I know that I have posted a note for each game asking that the girls arrive no later than 20 minutes prior to start of game. However, after thinking about it some more, we REALLY do need the extra time to warm-up the girls arms, warm-up the pitchers and give the girls some swings in the cage and soft-toss. Therefore, please plan on having the girls to the field at least 30 minutes prior to start of game. I will always be there about 45 minutes prior finalizing line-up, getting ready, etc.

Thanks,

Rob

Opening Day

Posted by Rob Graham at Mar 7, 2008 6:16AM PST ( 0 Comments )
Hi Parents,

A couple of things:

1. For those of you who have not attended Opening Day ceremonies before—watch out! It will be quite hectic with all of the teams congregating around the field, etc. Parking might be tight, so you may want to plan on arriving around 8:30. Our team will gather on the 1st base side by the two hitting screens at 8:45.

2. We have girls with varying degrees of softball experience. Overall, the girls are coming along well. However, there are times when we can see some of the girls trying to figure out what to do with the ball when it is hit to them, or where they should be if the ball is not hit to them. You can really help them greatly by playing a little game with them at home. Throw out different defensive situations, tell them what position they are playing, and have them tell you what their role is with – and without – the ball.

We look forward to a great season.

Bunting

Girls, last night we worked on bunting a great deal. Some of you really did a great job and learned a tremendous amount. To help you remember the proper method to use, I have posted a video on the website for you to watch.

Please take a look and do not forget to practice at home! :-)

Umpire Clinic

Posted by Keith Bradford at Feb 29, 2008 4:49AM PST ( 0 Comments )

If you missed the first umpire clinic you will want to come to the final opportunity to learn about how to perform the important role of volunteer umpire. All families are expected to participate in umpiring during the season, so come on out to Bailey Park and pick up tips from experienced local and district umpires.

The second umpiring clinic has been moved to Wednesday March 5 at 6:00 P.M for all levels except coach pitch baseball and softball. The Coach Pitch clinic will still be held on Saturday March 1 at 9:00 A.M.

Please remember that all of our parent volunteer umpires should attend one of the umpiring clinics. They are conducted by district and local umpires who will show you everything you need to know to be a great umpire. The clinics are held at Bailey Park

Welcome to our Wild Thingz team web site. Here you will find schedule information, volunteer activities, stats, and results of the games. Please pass the link on to family and friends that do not live in the area – it will be a great way for them to keep up on how their favorite Wild Thingz player is doing.

Take a look around. All the practice and game schedules are up to date. When we make changes to the schedule you will automatically be sent an email to check the site.

I hope you enjoy the site and if you have any suggestions for improvements, please forward them to me at billykeith@cfl.rr.com

Thanks
Coach Keith
