Slurpee Cup
Hello Everyone:
This information is tentative but it allows us to plan for the weekend.
First game is Saturday 9AM and then our second game is not until 4:30. Both games will be played at Brockelhurst Secondary (985 Windbreak St. – crosses with Fleetwood Ave.).
Sunday we play at 1:00 at the Singh Bowl (Singh Street and Ord Rd.) and then 5:30 at VV park, which we think is Valleyview High School. If you go to the Slurpee Cup webpage, they have an excellent map of the venues.
I’ll get the games into the schedule ASAP. We are in a pool of 5 teams: Pemberton, Terrace, Kamloops #2 (in our league) and Williams Lake. There does not appear to be a playoff format; just the winner of the group is declared the tourney champion.
Claire from the NOYSA coaching squad is running goalie clinics on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30pm at Marshall Field. We strongly recommend that if your son has an interest to avail himself of this excellent opportunity.
Easter Cup
The schedule remains the same as was earlier posted: Our Friday game to 4:30 pm on field #6. Then on Saturday we play at 10:30 am on field #5 and 4:30 pm again on field #5. Our final game on Sunday will be any time between noon and 3:00 depending on how we do in pool play.
We are asking the boys to be ready for warm-up at the field 45 minutes prior to kickoff (3:45 SHARP) on Friday to shake the cobwebs out from the drive down.
The park is as follows:
Newton Athletic Park
7395 128th street
Surrey, BC
I’ve attached a field map so everyone should be able to find where we are going.
Many of our boys are participating in the refereeing clinic on Thur so our practice will be slightly abbreviated.
Be prepared for any kind of weather conditions. Also, just a reminder about water bottles and healthy snacks/food. Lets go have some fun.
Regular Season Schedule Released
Our league schedule has been released and Vernon United will start our season in Kelowna on Sunday April 15. We play the next 3 Sundays at home. Then due to a bye and the May long weekend (when we’re at the Slurpee Cup in Kamloops) we don’t play again till Sat. May 26 in Penticton. We have 2 games that weekend as we also play on Sunday at home. Then we have 2 more road games the following Sundays; one in Kamloops and one in Salmon Arm. See the Calendar for details of game times and locations.
Not much news but some none the less
Just got a note from the planners of the Whitecaps Easter Cup.
The final schedule should be out approx. 1 week prior to the event. That said, here are the key times days to consider.
Games will be played over the three days April 6-8
Games will be scheduled starting as early as 8:30AM
Final day game times will be dependant on the format of each age group, but teams should plan that they could play into the later afternoon.
We will try and schedule all teams who are travelling for a later start time on Friday so that they can travel on that day and not have to stay an additional night in a hotel.
