Palos snow ride Feb 6th, 2010

Posted by Derek Held on Feb 09 2010 at 08:55AM PST
Just a quick note on the Sunday ride…. Met John Mahr at the Bullfrog Lake parking lot around 10:15 on Sunday. Sunny, 20s, calm wind. Did the Meltdown loop, counter-clockwise over to the top of "Gravity Cavity". We did take a right-hand detour, down into the yet-unnamed trail along the creek bottom. Just a bit of mud was present on the "One Day" trail, due to the ever-increasing power of the sun. Probably by about noon it would be totally thawed and unrideable. Then we hit the "Out and Back" loop, finishing up with "Bullwhip" back to the cars. A little over 1.5 hours of riding. Trails were pretty much packed snow, but looser than the previous Sunday, when it was harder and icier. Studs would not have been required. Low pressure helps enormously with getting traction on the slippery and loose stuff. Overall, pretty much a perfect day to be out in the sun, crankin’ around.

I believe the no name trail is known as One Day. It was as good as one could want on the day!
