Hurdles

Low hurdlers Matt Kredit & Aaron Skiles lead one of the teams most promising group of young athletes. Both are talented & competetive (Kredit is one of the teams top 200 meter runners, Skiles is adapt in the high jump and may throw the discus). Both were clocked at 45 plus in the lows and both placed in the regionals in the event. Both will only get better. Former distance runners Michael Stahl and Anthony Cutting (both are experienced in the 4x400 & 4x800 relays), Jack Vermeer (a former club track hurdler) and returning hurdlers Micah Kuiper & Demitrius LaVant should improve and add depth in 2004. Nate Huss and Sam Ledford are talented and fast enough to add depth to this group if needed. Ledford is a strong probable. The group is untested in the highs, but Kredit, Vermeer, Skiles and Kuiper all experienced the event last year. Coach Mo has experience turning sprinters in to hurdlers. At Moon Valley, Jamaal Peterson (Moon Valley 98) won the region in both short sprints & hurdles. On the gilrs side, Layla Hubbard did the same. At Desert Vista he tutored 10.9/13.8 athlete Ryan Patterson. Look for Nate Huss and the speed-deep second-tier sprint corps for help in that direction. For the GIRLS, Speck, the teams resident "heptathlete" is the lone experienced hurdler in the lows and highs. She also ranks highly as a thrower, jumper, plays basketball and volleyball. Easily a serious college prospect. The team is counting on incoming talent to add depth here.image
